Holograms induced by PC?

I polished my neighbors black 626 yesterday with a PC and the sonus das pads. Everything went fine and the results were very nice. that is till i came outside this morning to see what look like holograms on the passenger side door. I know they werent there before and the only reason i could come up with was that i put them there when using the Sonus Orange pad. the pad is so hard it, it makes it hard to control....especially on vertical panels. I did a pass with a propel yellow and some dacp and they came out in a snap. just makes me wonder what i did wrong yesterday.

any thoughts?

Yes, itâ€â„¢s possible. The orange pad is way too hard in my opinion. In fact itâ€â„¢s so hard that I will use not it. Use a green pad with a swirl remover or glaze to remove the marring. If youâ€â„¢re looking to replace the orange pad, check out the Sonus SFX 1 pad. Better results, less time, and a bit softer. Good luck!

Never had a problem with the Sonus orange pad on a PC myself, using a variety of different polishes.

Three questions, how do you hold the PC? Second, how long did you work the polish for? and third, what polish did you use?

I have noticed marring from the orange pad with certain polishes but with the last couple of cars (just a hobby of mine), I have been able to go straight to a paint cleaner/protectant after polishing with the orange pad/SSR2.5.

Not working the polish long enough can definitely result in marring like you found; I suspect that was your problem.

I have hard paint and the orange pad can't be used initially to tackle anything more than very light marring. I have always needed a yellow LC cutting pad to make progress and I usually just go right to a white pad.
