"hog" removal

i just bought a 1991 harley electraglide. the bike is in perfect condition with one exception: the original owner painted a pink and blue "hog" on the front of the fairing. it looks like hell. is there any way to remove this without damaging the paint underneath? it looks like he brush painted it on. i'm thinking the only way will be to get it sanded and than repainted, but i thought i'd ask the experts here first. thanks in advance for any advice you m ay have.

I would suggest ultra fine grit sandpaper with QD or water-car shampoo solution. I' d sand it down until that disgust is lost and then polish, seal and wax...

Well if it fails, you always can say you tried... :o

Careful work with lacquer thinner may get it off without damaging the paint it's on. Hence the word careful. I've been successfull at this more than once.

Try to find out if it was done by a pinstriper or painter and what paint he used ...might give you a clue to proper removal ...

Before you try any of that stuff get some Langka. That stuff is used to level out touch up paint and just may be enough to remove the paint he used without damaging the paint beneath. It is worth a try before you go to more expensive and invaisive steps.

I believe Mother's also markets a similar if not identical product.

it looks like it was done with acrylic paint and a brush. pink, black, blue, and ugly! thanks for the suggestions!
