Just got Sprint DSL installed. Was on dial up forever. What a difference. Cable isnt out to my house yet or I would have that. But what a difference. Cant wait to watch all the videos that dial up wouldnt allow me too. :bounce :bounce :bounce

I know. My GF had cable until she moved in with me. I miss it now. But after being on dial up here for 10+ years it is definetly awesome!!!

I hear you PrinzII. Thats how I felt when I would go over to my GF's house. 3.0mb cable is awesome. I had dial up at my house. Man what a difference now. She lives with me now and thinks this is slow. She doesnt understand!!!!

3.0mb.....?? Damn... the fastest I have seen here in Australia is 1500k... :( as usual Australia is always behind the times...

tegboy: There are some who run 9 - 10 MB/S over here. I currently run 6 MB/S on my cable connection.

teamvegas: Did you run any of the tests on DSL Reports? I definitely recommend running the tweak test.

PrinzII-- I really don't need that fact Australia, misses out on everything good, reinforced :) LOL

I am using 512kb Broadband and its ok...

I guess teh only saving grace is we get the Nissan R31, R32, R33, R34 GT-R Skylines cheap.

Plus Ford Falcons (F6 = :bow)and Holden Monaros (Before Pontiac got the idea to turn them into GTOs).

The Falcons are kinda cool, the Typhoon and XR-6 Turbos are a killer, turbo, FMIC, leather, body kit, 18's rims all from factory.

The Monaro, is just another car, they are everywhere. There is 4 in my street alone. My 24 year old mate has a jet black one with blood red leather, 20" Boyd Coddington rims, does look nice.

I will stick with my Integra from Summer and my Subaru WRX for daily driving :)

Spilchy: This is my current setup

PC:

OmniTech PII 350

320 MB RAM

Win2K SP4

Primary HD: Seagate 40 GB

Secondary HD: Quantum 20 GB (Soon to be replaced by a 160 GB HD and the Quantum HD is going to be moved to my Dell OptiPlex which will be running Windows Server 2003).

Sony 52x CD-ROM

TDK VeloCD 32x10x40 CD-RW

Internet:

Wide Open West (Ultra Internet Package) (6MB/S Down, 500kb Up)

Cable Modem: Scientific Atlanta

My hookup is rated at 100mbs... (more like 10) but I never get even nearly up to that. Think Comcast is fibbing a bit... but fast I am !:woot:

My system:

CPU- 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 overclocked to 3.51 so far (liquid cooling coming)

Ram-2.0Gb

Video -ATI all in wonder 9800

audio-Creative Audigy 24 bit

HD- (1) 200GB Western digital

(2) 250GB " "

(3) 200 GB Maxtor

DVD RW+- Sony 8X

SCSI; CD/RW PLEXTOR 24X

I built this system a year ago, and got carried away ! Now, I am looking to eventually upgrade when the new dual core Motherboards and CPU's are out a generation or 2 (the standards settle out and we get a stable trend. I have learned not to jump out there as an "early adapter". Kind of like running out to get the newest polish, but , oh so much more expensive !

:xyxthumbs Hoping to get 4 years out of it.

I have a Comcast Cable modem at home and Verizon DSL on the computer in my office at the firehouse. Anything is better than dial up!

I am working on building an AMD64 3000+ system.

Cool ! I muster up my courage every so often and after trying to see where the trends are going, try to strategically select features that are "average, industry accepted, and yet advanced enough to last a while) "betamax proof" :nixweiss For example, now the AMD and Intel boys are abandoning clock cycles (speed) for dual core processors. Intel cancelled its proposed 4.0GHz processor in favor of dual core due to the issue of increased heat of faster processors....

If you havent yet bought your stuff, you might want to wait till next summer.... Then again, maybe not. After all, Computing is much more hype driven than car products.... you are almost always going to be mislead to varying degrees on components... That being said, a person can always build a machine that he/she could not afford to buy retail, a whole world cheaper. Good luck on your build !:xyxthumbs
