Hi-Temp EC vs OHC

Well it seems liek I have really hard clear coat con my car, IP and ssr2.5 on orange pads by pc where nothing. So I'm suposed to get more agressive on product and/or pad combo, RIGHT? So my questions?

What's the equivalent to OHC from the Hi-Temp line?

Is Extreme Cut with Orange strong enough?

Should I get a yellow cutting pad and try my products?

Should I get orange or yellow 4'' pad to tackle my paint?

Will HT-EC OR OHC with 4'' pad be strong enough to tackle the hardest paint?

I'm sorry for so much questions but I'm trying to perfect my finish as much as I can without killing my student budget. WHat I have:

ssr2.5

IP

3M med. comp.

3M smr

6.5'' orange, green pads

dtailmycar,

All I can say is you can acomplish amazing things with just a PC and the 4 in. pads. In my experience the polish breaks down alot faster and defects seem to melt away compared to using the 6.5 pads. Give it a try , I don't think you will be disappointed!

I have used HI-Temp EC on the Cyclo to remove some pretty serious defects. I would use it with a cutting pad, and then follow with a finer polish and polishing pad. I just realized you are in Puerto Rico. I love it there. Where in SJ are you? I am visiting in December; maybe we can get together. I am interested in learning about the detail market in PR.

Noting that I haven't tried any of the SSR line *or* the Optimum Hyper, I'd say to get the H-T EC and use it with 4" orange pads.

I'm in favor of using a fairly aggressive product with the mildest pad that'll get the job done. The EC finsihes out pretty well and the orange light-cut pads are aggressive enough for it to do it's thing (in my experience). I don't think you *need* a more aggressive cutting pad and IMO it'll only cause more micromarring.

The 4" orange with EC is a pretty aggressive combo, about at the edge of what's doable with the PC. It sure won't replace the rotary, but it's mighty impressive..I was surprised at how well it works.

You might want to mix something with the EC to increase its work time. The standard product for this is Optimum, but I used 1Z Ultra as it's a mighty aggressive, yet PC-friendly, product with a *long* work time.
