Hello,
I realized that there are just bits and pieces about me out here on DC, so I wanted to actually introduce myself.
My name is Nick Carberry, and I currently reside in Woodstock, Georgia, which is 30 minutes north of Downtown Atlanta.
I have been detailing cars (besides my own and my family’s) since I was 13 by pulling a wagon full of supplies around my neighborhood. Since then, I have enjoyed keeping my cars and my motorcycle as clean as possible. I started “The Details” as a college project while I was a junior, but it turned into something much more.
Prior from graduating from Kennesaw State University (top 5 business school), I yearned for more and more detailing information, and enrolled in Meguiar’s Professional Detailing school in California. After that, I was trained by the largest independent detail supply producer in California, Adam Pitale of Adam’s Polishes. Along with those materials, I also use other high-end products such as Poorboy's, Top of the Line, 4 Star, and some of which are imported from Germany.
My latest addiction has been body shop work, more specifically painting. I apprenticed at a shop here in Woodstock where I furthered my skills of Wetsanding and rotary work.
More recently, I have felt it to be my duty to give back to the community. After September 11th, I wanted to help out in some way. I dug deep to find what I could do, instead, it was right there in front of me. Why not use my skills as a detailer to help out the men and women who put their life out on the line for people they don’t even know. I have made it a precedence to volunteer my services at local fire stations throughout the year. While I might look like a hoodlum to someone driving by, doing this gives me great pride in what I do and where I live.
I was honored to be invited up to the 50th Anniversary Corvette shows last year by West Coast Corvettes. I detailed their show cars as well as some other winners in their classes. WCC is Adam's Polishes largest distributor. I enjoy using these products, for over 3 years now, and use them exclusively at the Corvette shows. I'm not a distributor of them at all, and I have NEVER been paid by Adam's to talk about their products. I sincerely believe they work, and that is why I like to mention them. I am a big supporter of small business.
All in all, I like to tell of my experiences with products. I've spent over $3500 on detailing products alone in the past 2 years. There is quite a variety out there, and I still treat this as a hobby. Some collect baseball cards, some collect coins, I collect detailing supplies. ;D
As an old friend once said (paraphrased), "Use what you like, and use it often"! I've always had an open mind, and enjoy helping others out when questions are asked.
I intend to enjoy my stay here at DC, and look forward to meeting and learning more from my peers.
