HGAS over KSG?

I detailed my wife's Caribean Blue G35 coupe two weekends ago with Menzerna's FPII, FTG, and FMJ and I was very happy with the results (as was she). So after I washed it this past weekend I went over it w/ HGAS and it looked spectacular. (Even the wife noticed the impact of the HGAS from the week before, or so she said).

As a result, I thought I'd try using the HGAS after washing my black BMW which I had previously detailed last fall with KAIO and KSG before I got the Menzerna stuff. I don't know if I used too much or my MF was too moist, but the HGAS appeared to smear on the black BMW, almost as if it was "melting or activating" the KSG. It had the same look that you get when you use too much KSG, before you learn it has to be invisible. Any ideas as to what happened here? Are the two incompatible? Is the HGAS only for use on top of FMJ?

I'll likely be redoing my entire car with FPII, FTG, and FMJ within the month, but I'm still curious as to what may have happened.

Thanks,

Nick

HGAS is one of the best toppers ever made. I use it all the time and never had a problem with it over my truck which has KSG as a lsp. Although my color is billit silver I would have noticed something if the two products were not compatible. Since it smeared on you I would say either of the two reasons you gave might be the culprit - using too much or too wet an applicator.

Thanks, Shortspark, I appreciate your perspective.

Do most folks spritz the QD onto the vehicle and then rub it in, or onto a MF and rub that over the panel?

I doubt that it matters much except it's a lot easier to see the amount of QD if it's on the car than if it's on the MF. I'm trying to find a way to ensure I don't over do it. I may have to take the KSG approach and assume if I can see anything going on, it's too much.

Thanks
