Here's what my first kit contains.

So I'm buying my fourth vehicle on Saturday. 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE in either red or gunmetal grey. Just ordered my first kit from autogeek, anything missing? I already have towels, buckets, spray bottles, wheel/tire cleaner.

Mothers Brake Dust Brush

Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer

16 oz. 303 Aerospace Protectant

16 oz. Poorboys Bug Squash

Duragloss 901

Meguiar's #20 Sealant

Meguiar's Gold Class Wax Paste (I know it's not the best. I've used it for years and love it)

Sheepskin Wash Mitt

Labor day coupon: 15% off (labor15)

$91.25 shipped to Rhode Island

Umm, maybe get yourself some clay. And a tire shine, unless you use the 303. Congrats on the car, I looooove the way those new Sonata's look. Hyundai has really stepped up their game.

That just doesn't seem like a lot of stuff for $90, and most of it can be bought OTC. If I were to order, I'd pick items which I cannot buy locally. Just my opinion....

It's a brand new car, right? Isn't it too early to be thinking about clay? Post some pics, man. Those new Sonatas are sick. I saw a turbo one the other day. Very nice :bigups Big output with great gas mileage on regular gas FTW.

None of it can be bought over the counter where I live. The only "detailing" shop within an hour of here is autozone. I'v been relying on Meguiar's products I can buy at Autozone and Target for years. Time to upgrade. Okay, off to buy the car, wish me luck! Sticker price is around 24, I'll be paying 19.

Well that sucked. Spent all day car shopping after Hyundai refused to give me the price we greed upon (Tarbox Hyundai in East Greenwich, RI). The salesman was a nice guy but the manager was a total creep.

I ended up at Majestic Honda in Rhode Island and signed a 36 month lease on a 2010 Accord LX-S. Gunmetal grey with black interior.

QUESTION: I got one right off the truck that hadn't been test driven or detailed or anything. When I went to give it a quick bath tonight, where the white plastic on the hood and roof had been removed, the paint beaded fine but on the rest of the already-exposed vehicle, there was clearly no wax. Will washing with Dawn even all of this out? I want to start fresh. Thanks

The unprotected paint is contaminated. I'd do a decontamination, followed by *some* kind of prep (yeah, even on a brand-new car), and then apply the LSP of your choice.

An alternative to the decontamination system is a good (proper) claying. IMO, a Dawn wash, by itself, is probably not gonna be sufficient.
