This is the car i'm goin to detail on Monday. I'm starting on it Monday night around 4pm, and keeping it till tuesday night. The swirl marks dont look too deep and the water spots just look like they are on the surface. The picture shows what i plan on doing. Wash, Swirl mark remover, deep crystal polish, then NXT. I'm using a cheap walmart 20.00 buffer with the 9-10" pads. I have terry cloth bonnets and wool bonnets for polishing. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

yikes, that's bad! that is something i'd definitely use a PC for.

but, if anything, you'll probably have to really work the #9 SMR well, and maybe even do a couple passes. i'm not too sure how well it will work at removing all that with just that 9"-10" buffer. or maybe something more aggressive, like #80 speed glaze.

and it probably be a good idea to do a clay as it may help with the water spots.

lastly, that cowl should be black! :D looks like it has wax on it. meg's #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner, or mother's black to back, or something similar should restore it back to its original color.

good luck! :wavey

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that that car should be clayed (judging by the condition in the pics) before you start your polishing step. #9 will do a good job removing most of the swirls but don't expect to get them all out with the product and machine combo you have. To be God's honest with you...I would leave the buffer in the box and try doing it by hand with a foam and/or terry applicator. Those cheap wool and terry bonnets might actually wind up putting MORE swirls into the paint.

If that were my detail...I would use Meg's #83 and my PC with a Meg's 8006 pad at a speed of 5-6.

Good luck dude and post some pics when you are done!!

Mike

its exactly the same machine , it has a different model number because it is sold as the sander i believe, a backing plate and pads it will be the same as 7424

Im gona suggest some KlearCote VM and either P21S or S100 to add to that. And good luck to you my friend.

If you have a local paint and body supply store you should be able to pick up some Meguiars pads. You're very likely going to need something like DACP or 3m PI III RC

This is my first post here so sorry if im hijacking the thread, but in what order would you use with those products pictured above?

1) Wash

2) #9

2) polish

4) Meguiars NXT

lowes shows that the only carry the 7336

The 7336 is actually a better choice than the 7424, it comes with a 6" hook/loop backplate(18001) which by itself is a $30-$0 option rather than the useless 6" polishing pad of the 7424. :xyxthumbs

Not sure if polish refers to Deep Crystal but if so, probably that first, then #9

That is the correct order.
