Help with WOW affect for Car Show

Old Car Nut
I have seen some really good threads here on up end paint protection so I would like to ask for your help. I have World of Wheels indoor car show coming up in Feb 07 and I will be entering my black street rod and maybe my red street rod. Two years ago I did AIO and PS, last year it was RMG and PS. This year I want to try something different and it must have a real WOW affect since the competition is really stiff (I know I won’t win but not being embarrassed is my goal). I will be using POR85RD via cyclo/PC on a black pad as my finial polish. Durability is not a concern here since it will probably be put enclosed trailer and towed to the show. What combo would you use for the most WOW affect?

I have a lot of favorites for my Black truck. I like to use Pinnacle Liquid Souveran to get a great wet shine. I use others more often for a lot of different reasons but Pinnacle LS is easy to put on and take off. There is not anything that I have used on my Black truck that has looked better. The products I use now last longer, are slicker, and bead better but initial looks none surpass the look of LS in my eyes.

I am sure that you will get a lot of differing opinions on this one.

I think you'll also get a little extra "pop" if you switch from RMG to the new Pinnacle XMT Carnauba Glaze. I've used it a couple times and it really darkens and deepens paint nicely. The paint will look super wet and be really slick.

I would use Pinnacle Souveran paste wax for MAX.depth and after 24 hours top it with Aqua wax for more gloss.

You have to think of the lights.. it's not going to be the same light you normally see your car is..

dino i belive had an edge on what to use.. but i can't find or remeber what is was..

that being said I think it was to use a sealent. so I like WG on black when i used it. LS might also look good I normally use that on candy colors I would use it on your RED for sure. EX-P,EX The new polish with sealant... man man choices..

like i said... i belive sealant are the way to go.. but i'll search..

I have quite a few sealants - Zaino Pro, Wolfgang, UUP, Rejex, Glare, EX, and few others and I think as far as looks Wolfgang it best. That said I do like PS and TS over Wolfgang..

Hmmm . . . you raise an excellent point. The car show is indoors. I've never had experience with detailing a car for indoor display. So, I'd like to retract my statement and defer to others who have experience in this arena.

ok i found the Deanski thread over in A world..
""I've put Souveran over EX all the time. Then, I used Nattys on the red SC430 I have and it looks a bit more clear. On black, hands down it's Souveran. I did a side-by-side test of Souveran/Nattys at a Poorboys meet and only one person guessed correctly. You have to know the product and have a trained eye to tell them apart. Souveran imparts more warmer tones where Nattys is a bit less, more clear not as a darkening effect.

However, for indoor shows, I use Zaino for the reflectivity more than the warmth with a carnuba. Under metal Halide lamps, Zaino wins over caranuba. It's much more reflective. If you're outside, stick with EX/Souvearn. The sun shows off a wetter look.

Enjoy!

Regards,
Deanski

For indoor car shows, where there is usually a mix of lights (like a Mercury Halide hanging next to a Sodium Vapor) it's been my experience that in order to acheive that liquidy wet glass look it's best to use a glaze such as 3M IHG or Megs #7 followed up with a light wipedown of Megs #34. Of course neither of these glazes will really do any justice unless the surface underneath has been polished baby bottom smooth. Also keep in mind that indoors, under this such light, it's rare to ever see swirls on the sides of a vehicle. I would concentrate on the top surfaces making sure that the sides are free of defects.

Just my 2cents :)

106ff+RMG+Souvern+4*Carnauba spray wax = Nice, deep shine. I did a friend's MINI for an import show with that combo, and most everyone there thought his looked the best (even though he lost).

I've done a few cars with Adams BSG+OCW for a quickie shine that was easy to apply.

Indoor shows can be killers. Make sure the swirls and scratches are gone, apply about five coats of a sealant
From my experience, these lights don't really highlight the wetness of paint, more to do with how defect free they are and the depth.
