Help with rims

The silver painted rims on my miata have got to be the worst rims to clean, ever.

It's not that the pattern is hard to get into, or anything like that.

They almost seem porous... Like the brake dust gets into little dimples and crevises that I can't get it out of, no matter how I clean it...

I get em looking good, but only from 3 feet away...

Any ideas?

Use a tar remover (3M), clay them and polish w/ Mothers Clearcoat Wheel Polish. If you want you can wax (Colonite) them after.

The better protected they are the less porous they'll be :)

If the wheels are a convenient shape, maybe also try using an old piece of clay to remove it.

I agree that maybe you should try waxing them or something. Hopefully you can partially fill in some of those pores or seal them up a bit.
