Help with Motorcycle Plastics

Hi, I have been detailing my bikes for awhile now, and while they generally look good, and get compliments all the time, the one area I ALWAYS have a problem with is the plastic parts.

The metal parts which are painted are easy enough, however there are many parts on my bike which are made from a plastic that has the colour in the plastic. (It is blue all the way through the plastic, not painted on.)

I have tried many plastic specific type polishes and waxes, and I always see some haze, or scratches in those areas on the bike. No one else does, but I see them lol.

I would appreciate any advice on how to make those types of colour impregnated plastics shine, at or near how the metal parts which are painted do.

Thanks :)

At the moment no pics I can upload right now. It is a Yamaha FZ-6. Of course, many sport bikes would have this type of plastic as well.

As I said, it is colour impregnated, and has some sparkle effect in it as well. Here is a stock photo of one. The areas I am talking about are all the blue in the picture except the tank, which is paint.

I would treat the plastic painted parts the same as the others....Some plastic parts will not give you back the same reflective quality that you get with metal painted parts....The plastic may also not be clear coated so that will also not give that shine look like metal....I woud polish to lift the hazing that you are talking about...seal, then paste wax...I think that's about as good as plastci parts are going to get.

The plastice parts on this particular bike, and some others though are not painted. This is a resin that has the colour impregnated throughout it. This is why I am having this issue.

I was hoping there was more of an approach to coloured plastics per se, as to get the optimum shine, and haze free look.

Would list the products you have tried?

I would recommend using AIO followed by yoiur choice of sealant or wax on the plastic.

I use spray wax or detail spray on all my plastics and it works great ..If I really want to get creative I'll use PB's Natural Look.
