Help with exhaust tips

I was trying to get the black soot off my exhaust tips but only got about 50% of it off.

I first tried a metal polish, then some APC, then some clay, with clay getting the best results. Any one have any suggestions as to how to get the rest of it off?

Here are some pics of the exhaust tips and general pics of my car. Thanks for your help guys.

Mothers metal polish works well for me. Use with 0000 steel wool if the soot is really bad.

Yep, was using Mothers metal polish but I was missing the steel wool. Do you use the wool on just the inside, not scratching up the outside of the exhaust?

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Have learned so much here, and still learning.

#0000 grade steel wool and glass cleaner will wipe it off easily. Polish is overkill and dosen't give any better results than just plain glass cleaner.

I like to use Eagle One Nevr-Dull. Once you get those tips clean just make sure to add that to your washing regimen so that the buildup doesn't occur again.

ahh yes the BMW 335i. God you gotta love the twin turbos. Here's a idea for the black soot . . . . ease off the throttle LoL. J/K

as mentioned fine grade steel wool should do you justice on those tips.
