Help using your products on a c6 Corvette please

I purchased all of your products pretty much during the 40% off sale, all except the tire shine.

I have a ton of clearcoat scratches and tried using the Uno the other day but it didnt do much.

Can you go through a step by step of exactly how to get the paint on my Corvette looking great using your products? Do I need to wash the car down with dawn 1st? I didnt do this the other day when I tried the Uno with the new Porter Cable UDM and results were null. I did go over the entire car with QD and clay bar though.

Also include what speeds to use with the Uno and your Wax.

Thanks!

Hi,

1st I want to thank you for choosing HD Products.

You want to 1st use the HD Free to wipe down the vehicle with the HD Microbuff towel

you can follow with the HD Total on the tires to wipe the brake dust or grease off with the ecowipes.

2nd you can remove fine scratches ( spider web ) with the HD UNO and using the HD Uno Pad ( orange).

follow it with the Poxy using the HD Poxy Pad ( Blue) wipe it down with the Microbuff towels.Purchase the HD wool pad to help you remove scratches.

You can also go to YouTube - 3dproducts's Channel.

What you want to do is spread the product in a 2x2 area on speed three, (start with 3 small dime drops on the uno pad) when you finished spreading the product, kick it up to speed 5-6 (personally 5 is my preference as the UDM shakes a lot at 6) then you want to do overlapping passes by 50% in this shape:

---------

---------

---------

---------, then do the same vertically. Go at a speed of 1-2 inches per second. Once the product has hazed wipe to inspect your progress, if you didnt get a desirable result do the same another time. Remember to do alcohol wipedowns to break up the oils left on the surface.

It takes some time and practice. Also remember to put around 10lbs of pressure, and heres a tip: put a mark on the backing plate (Its black for me so I just did it with some white out) then as you are working the pad should make one rotation per second- best tip I got for judging pressure :)

Good luck and take your time :)

Oh when I ordered I was told the Uno Orange pad was all I needed to remove scratches and polish all in one easy step. What speed should I set my Poter Cable on to remove scratches and what speed to polish? What speed for the HD Poxy? So you dont recommend stripping the old wax off the car with a degreaser of any kind before using your products or clay barring? How long do I work in the Uno with the wool pad? Just up and down then back and forth or do I need to make several passes? Same question for the Orange pad.

Please PM me or have someone PM me that can come up with a way to get me the wool pad at a discount or free since I was told all I needed was the orange pad.

Also I tried the Metal polish on my exhaust tips and it doenst seem to work either. I got better results from Mother's polish that was $5 at my local parts store. Maybe I used it wrong? Can you tell me how to use that? I hooked up a cloth wheel to a powerful Dewalt drill added the Metal polish and ran it in my exhaust tips just like the Mothers but the Mothers worked way better.

Thanks Marie

Dont worry, if you read my comment youll be fine. You spread at 3, then work it in at speed 5, and remove. Marie misread it most likely as you have a UDM, and not a rotary. The orange will be plenty, and is as good as it get on the Porter cable. Wool is only for rotary buffers and the Flex. As for Poxy, spread at speed 3, and wait for the hazing and finally remove. Just wash your vehicle with dawn to remove any wax and clay bar for sure! How long is really an unanswerable question as it depends on pressure and the user itself. Practice and you will find out when to remove before the product is overworked-in other words working too much will cause it to be really hard to remove.

Edit: BTW mothers polish is top notch and hard to beat, and HD metal maybe isnt a better product...

Cool thanks for the tips, big help. Im just asking about how long to work the product as I dont want to wear through my clearcoat and damage my paint as Im new at this. Can you even do that with a Porter Cable?

Burning the clear is not possible with the PC and thats what make it so friendly to people. When you work the product you will see that once the surface is dry and you overworked it the product cakes on the surface and even before that point you reach its peak, so dry buffing is not a good thing. I would stick to full corrective details once a year and not doing them once a month or multiple times a year. If you cant keep the surface in good condition then you shouldnt detail it before you have proper towels, soaps, buckets, grit guards etc. Yeah, its costs some money but it all benefits the way your paint look after one wash.

Good Morning, So how did the HD Uno work for you I really want to make sure your a happy camper while using our product and regarding the wool pad or and any product I will do my best to help as much as I can to get everyone the best deal possible I know the weather doesn't help either. Thank You all.;)

Its so warm and toasty by my heater.... Couldnt pay me to detail in 40 degree weather....

Nobody really mentioned it, but I go by the saying, less is more. You will get better results quicker. Couple drops is all you need on a section.

Opps, think I made Marie jealous... :)
