Help!!!! Tons of overspray on my Wife's 07 Maxima

Guys, I am is serious need of some advice here. My wife has a dark-grey metallic Maxima which was in very good condition. She went to eat lunch on friday with some of her friends and when she got to the car after they were finished eating, workers on the roof pretty much sprayed her car white with tons of overspray. They were painting the roof of the building white. I called the restaurant and they were extremely nice and agreed that they would take care of the problem. Well, I went to the tunnel wash down the street from my house right after the incident to try and get it off and the guys at the wash wound up getting much of the paint off, but when I went out to see what they were doing, they were scratching the **** out of the paint. I immediately told them to stop, although none of thm spoke any english. There is still tons of white paint overspray all over the car, wheels, rubber trim, etc. So basically what I need to know is what can I do that can take care of the problem. I am going to take pics as soon as I get a chance after work in the coming day or so, so I can show you guys what I am talking about. I am so aggravated at the situation, especially being on a brand new car.

Also, if there are any Autopians that would want to tackle this job that live in the New Orleans, LA area or if anyone knows the most reputable detail shops in my area, this would be greatly appreciated. The good thing is the company will be paying for the damage.

Aggressive claybar should remove it, followed by a polish to remove the marring. Take it to a professional, it's a pretty routine job.

A detailer will be able to remove the overspray on the painted surfaces, chrome & glass, but I'll bet there won't be any hope for anything else. Please be advised that if they can't get the paint off, they owe you full replacement of any and all of the damaged panels & trim. Period!

I see this on a regular basis and people let all the little trim pieces slide by when most of the overspray is removed on the bulk of the vehicle. If that's ok with you, then go forward. If not, they owe you 100% and a rental vehicle while your car is in the shop.

If you take it to a shop of your choice and they damage any part of your car, it's on you. If you go to a shop that the responsible party recommends, it's on them.

mcnada, clay bar it. I had some blue paint on my rsx that got on it some how. I clayed it and removed all of it.

It just stuns me that any business would allow spray painting when they have customer's vehicles in their parking lot. Pure stupidity.

Clay, polish and rewaxing should take care of it.

thank you for all of your replies...

david, i completely agree with you. they will have to replace all of the trim if it id not totally off. i have been anal with all of the cars i had in the past and now like you said i am worried about the trim. I was told that solvent would take it off the trim.

lance, this will take a long time to fully correct and i dont have the time right now with work and the baby and the holidays man.

dents and details, thanks for the pm, i will give tham a call today

scottwax, tell me about it. when my wife got home and said that it looked like that sparyed fake snow on her car, i knew i was in for it. at least they at taking full responsibility.

dansti, i agree. i would like to do it myself because i know it will get done properly; however, time is a problem for me right now.
