Help this newbie

I purchased a 98 Volvo V70 for my wife about 2 years ago. I guess the car either had been a lease or was owned by someone that just didn't "do wax jobs", because the paint was in horrible condition for a 2 year old.

When I first bought this car I did a clay job and then a wax job. Nothing fancy (I hadn't found this site yet!). This helped. The finish felt less like sandpaper and a bit more like smooth glass.

Now, having purchased a PC and a few other products recommended here:

Dawn

Clay Bar (Zaino)

3M FI II

3M SMR (light cars)

P21S wax

I'm, hopefully equipped to tackle the job of really doing it right.

Yes, I have used the search engine extensively, but the more I read, the more confused I become.

With these products in mind, can someone chime in on the proper procedure to revive this somehwat oxidized and swirled paint job.

DO I need other products also, glaze for example, or do I have what I need to get the job done?

Thanks, much, in advance!!

That order looks fine to me. You might skip the FI-II and try the 3M SMR first. Only use the FI-II if the SMR doesn't remove all the swirls. You don't need any other glaze. The 3M SMR is a polish and it has fillers, so you will be ready to wax after its application.

If you are going to do all that prep work then I suggest that you seal the finish before the P21S. P21S is a great topper but a sealant would protect your finish without you having to start over every two months. See the thread on syn. finishes by Intel.
