Help Removing Zaino

Heres the situation I detailed my car two weeks ago using Menzerna IP & FPII followed by Z1 & Z2. The Z1 I used was no good (older than 3 years and jelly not liquid) and I now want to remove whatever Z1 and Z2 remains on the car so that I can use EX and Natty's instead. Can Someone please give me a step by step process of what I need to do to remove the Zaino and apply the EX and Natty's. The method I am looking at using is the 50/50 alcohol water mixture unless someone knows of a better way. Thanks in advance!

ummm ever tried a polish? zaino isnt concrete, althouhgt it protects like it. aio or any good polish should take care of it

Umm, I don't have AIO and was hoping there was an easier way than polishing the car since I just polished it.

Any paint cleaner will remove the Zaino that is left on your paint. AIO, UPC, Pinnacle PCL, and Poorboy's PP are all paint cleaners. Water and rubbing alcohol will work but it may require a bit more effort.

Tru Dat. :cool

go to advance or auto zone and get the mothers power polish (i think thats what its called), heard some good things about it. want something more chemical than abrasive, try the megs deep crystal apint cleaner or color x. all locally available

OK, as much as I really did not want to go the polish route I have FPII on hand, so will I be ok using that to remove the Z1 and Z2? I know it will work on wax , but what about a sealant like Z1? If I do use it is there any reason for me to use IP again? I used both IP and FPII two weeks ago on the car in question, am I still ok using a polish again in that time frame? Thanks!

It won't hurt to use the FPII again... but why bother? Just put the EX and Natty's right over the Z2. Unless the Z1/Z2 looks bad because of the Z1 being bad?

Hmm, this sounds good, but will it cause the EX to lose durability if it is layered like that? I always thought that for a sealant to work it has to be applied before the wax.

z1, ex, then nattys. tghats all. u're durabilty is all in the z1. it wouldn't make since to seal, clean, seal, wax... i hope i understood the post right.

just put u're z1, then wait a day and put the ex, then wait a day and put the nattys.

The problem is that the Z1 has gone bad. It has exceeded its shelf life. I am not sure how long it will remain on the car on its own due to the fact that it was older than three years. That is why I was going to use EX to replace it. As far as I understand EX is a sealant so that is why I am choosing it to replace the Z1 with it. I am not sure if I am making much sense. .

then u need to strip w/e may be left of the z product with a polish. ex is a sealant with carnuba. if u want a pure sealant with no carnuba there is always ex-p

Thanks Joyriide113! So I should use my Menzerna FPII to remove the Zaino? I chose to go with EX, because it is going on a black car and I was under the impression that EX-P was for light colors.

Edit: Here is the car after IP, FPII, Z1, and Z2.

Z1 had no durability. It is an extremely, extremely light cleaner that has some "stuff" in it that helps Z2 bond... Z2 has the durability.

I wouldn't waste the Z1, or attempt to use it as prep for anything but Zaino.

Z2 is a sealant.
EX is a sealant (with a tiny bit of carnauba in it)

EX has some light cleaning abilitites of it's own. With a couple of coats, it will probably remove the Z2 if you only have a coat on there.

I have put EX over Zaino with no problem.
I have put EX over UPP with no problem.
I have put EX over Klasse SG with no problem.
I have put EX over Pro Wax Polymer Sealant with no problem.

I am not familiar with the Menzerna polishes. Is either one abrasive or is one just a chemical cleaner? You DO NOT NEED TO USE ABRASIVES TO REMOVE SEALANTS OR TO CLEAN THE PAINT. Abrasives are recommended far too often on these forums when other products such as a chemical cleaner will suffice. Remember, ALWAYS use the least aggressive product possible.

And joyriide, no offense but would it kill you to make your posts easier to read?
