Help on Black

What would be a good process on black with a good amount of swirls?

Here is what I have to work with:

Pads:

Yellow Excel

Green Excel

Meguiars Polishing (white)

Products:

SSR1

SSR2.5

EX-P

SFX1

SFX3

Nattys

S100

Pro Polish

AIO

I know the obvious steps, clay and wash, but after that I'm a little confused.

Depending on paint condition, you should do the following:

Paint in pretty bad shape:

1. Wash

2. Clay

3. SSR 2.5 with Yellow pad

4. SSR 2.5 with Green pad or white

5. LSP 1 (could be EX-P)

6. LSP 2 (could be Nattys, S100))

Some think you can go straight to LSP after 2.5 w/ Yellow, however I feel it looks best if 2.5 and Yellow are followed with 2.5 and Green. YOu can go straight to LSP after this step.

Paint in pretty good shape:

1. Wash

2. Clay

3. SSR 2.5 Green pad or white

4. LSP 1 and 2 (same as above)

That 2.5 is unlikely to truly work on black. You'll need to check your work with a wipe down or follow with a mild polish. After looking at the thread featuring the color sanded Lexus, I'd have to say that you should go with the Sonus couple and then the LSP of choice. Depending on how "clear" the finish is should decide your LSP but I'd probably go with the Natty's.

I definately will be using the green with SSR2.5 or SSR1 after the yellow pad because with a test I did on my hood it left horrible hazing.

Thanks for the info!

I too saw that Lexus and was amazed. I will have to try the SFX and see how it works compared to SSR.
