Help needed, has anyone ever taken apart the cyclo?

GOT PREP?
My handle was broken during shipping so TOL sent me a new one. In order to install the new handle you must take apart the machine. I cannot get the motor case back on.

TIA

This sounds like a brand new Cyclo. I wouldn't go any further out of fear your warranty will be void. I'd suggest contacting Cyclo directly.

Yeah, it is fairly new, I am going to contact TOL and see what they say. I was just wondering if someone had done it before and knew of something that I was over looking. I sure wanted to use it tomorrow...:(

Sorry to hear you're having such trouble with it. Heh heh, it's too late for this now, but if it had been mine I would've asked Irene for a new one (very nicely, mind you).

I'm just a little surprised you can't get it back together. I doubt anybody's at CycloToolMakers on a Saturday, but the guy to ask for is Steve (303) 485-1990

I think I'd try getting it back together yourself some more. I haven't taken mine apart (so it's easy for *me* to talk, huh :o ), but the motor and brushes are supposed to be user-serviceable. Try to figure out what's keeping it from going back together. Is the motor spindle at the top (the copper colored piece) going into the hole in the case? Is the motor centered in the housing? Are the wires out of the way? When I talked with Steve he acted like they are *very* easy to work on. But then he does it all the time.

I bet you're just missing something and you'll suddenly have it back together in no time. Sometimes just setting it aside for a while and trying again with "fresh eyes" can work wonders ;)

I have replaced handles and motor brushes, plus several cords. If you like you can PM me and I'll give you my number and you can call me if you need some assistance.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I really appreciate it. I had to use the rotary/PC yesterday, but it was no big deal.

Anthony, thank you very much for the kind offer. I am going to see what happens with TOL, if I still cannot get it back together I will shoot you a PM.

Thanks again everyone!

Just wanted to bump this thread to let everyone know what happened.

I contacted TOL and they had Cyclo contact me directly. I talked with the tech and tried everything that he said, I still couldn't get it back together. :nixweiss I then contacted TOL and they sent me a new machine!! Great customer service, I had it on my door step the next after noon.

Thanks for posting that, I'd wondered what ever happened. Yeah, both Irene at TOL and the folks at Cyclotoolmakers give great customer service. Glad to hear it worked out for you, sorta confirms my opinion that owning a Cyclo (and doing business with TOL) is a pretty trouble-free experience.
