Help me choose a Randam Orbit Polisher? (especially people from Europe or Asia)

Below are 3 Random Orbital polishers I can get off the shelve in Hong Kong (240V):



Metabo SXE420

All 3 comes with 5' velco backplate and should able to mount 6.5' pads.



I can't get the PC because I park in public car park and I have to go to friends' house when I do my polishing. I can't afford to take the transformer with me cause it weight more than 20lbs.



These 3 are the only ones available now. Hopefully someone have use either one and can give your comments.

Those are all very high speed and low eccentricity compared to the PC. I would be scared.



PC - 2,500-6,000 (15/16" eccentricity)



Metabo - 5,000 - 12,000 (5 mm eccentricity)

B&D - 7,500 - 10,000 (2.5 mm eccentricity)

Bosch - 7,500 - 12,00 (4 mm eccentricity)
 
I haven't used (or even seen) any of the units you mention in person so I can only make general comments based on experiences with tools I have owned from these companies.



The quality and performance of the Black & Decker tools I've owned has been quite satisfactory. They've been good consumer grade products but not as rugged or effective as tools designed for industrial use.



I really like the Bosch tools I own. They are rugged, precise and highly effective. I love German tools.



Metabo also shares that German penchant for precision. I love my Metabo PE7175 rotary polisher, great tool.



From looking at the SXE425 (I couldn't find a 420), KA-190E or PEX 270AE online none of them look comparable to the 7424. You may want to take a look at:



Festo RO150E

Makita BO6040

Bosch 1370DEVS

The Bosch 1370DEVS and Festo RO 150E are not available in Hong Kong. I did take a look at the Makita BO6040 but is way more expensive (US$390) and too heavy compare to the three models that I mentioned. All three of them cost only US$90



Two quick questions, is the obital diameter same as Eccentricity? How is more eccentricity benefit to polishing?
 
Id recommend the Hitachi FSV 13Y. Should be easy to source and its 240V!



I am in Australia, so know only to well the frustrations you are experiencing.

I take it they are talking about the fact that the random orbital buffer gets is name from the action of the buffer (or polishing head) This operates by the shaft rotating and spinning the back plate on an orbit radius or an eccentric offset (or throw) as opposed to a revolution on a direct-drive system



Q2: How is more eccentricity benefit to polishing?

The Porter Cable has an â€Ëœoffsetâ€â„¢ of 5/32-inch the random orbital buffers used on European production lines has an â€Ëœoffset of ¾-inch so it covers more area. Is this better-I donâ€â„¢t know



Just a thought, is the Flex brand available (itâ€â„¢s the European equivalent of the US made Porter Cable)
