Help!, Klasse user trying to prep for Zaino

Hi,

I have picked up a Zaino kit (Z1, Z2, Z6, and Z7) today from a local distributor. I currently have 1 coat of Klasse AIO, 3 coats of Klasse SG, and 3 coats of Pinnacle Paste Glaz. I decided that I wanted to experiment with Zaino because of all the positive feedback. I want to judge for myself which of the two is really the "King of the Hill". I used Klasse and saw it's potential but thought I would give Zaino a shot.

How should I prep my car to make sure I get the best benefit of Zaino. Should I do the following steps.

1. Wash car with Dawn

2. Clay with QD (Z6?)

3. 3M One Step Cleaner Wax (light oxidation)

3. Wash car with Z7

4. Towel dry car with Absorber

5. Apply Z1 with MF applicator

6. Apply Z2 over Z1 with MF applicator

Will this suffice to prep my car. Will it take off the Klasse and the Pinnacle Paste Glaz? If it will then how long should I wait to apply another coat of Z2?

Your guidance/suggestions is much appreciated.

Thank you & Aloha,

RP

Don't use cleaner wax for step three. Washing with Z-7 right after doing so will not completely remove all the wax. If your car truly does need a cleaner/abrasive treatment, use PPCL (with a foam disc-shaped applicator) followed by a Z-7 wash.

Also, you might save a little money if you use a half-capful of Z-7 mixed with water into a spray bottle as the lubricant for your QD instead of Z-6.

On a related note, you really want to prep your car well before Zaino. If it has any swirls or light scratches that you can see now, you'll see them after Z-2 for sure. It will help you a tiny bit with filling swirls, but not much (why no Z-5?).

Substitute a good polish for the cleaner wax step. Products that do many things tend to do none of them well, that's probably why Zaino has so many darn numbers and products -- everything's specialized.

Hey, in the same boat with you.

Did step one and two yesterday and today. Will wash with Z7 tomorrow then hit Z5/ZFX. Spent a lot of time today looking for a big syringe, better mixing bottles, and those Eagle or Viking fancy applicators. Struck out on all three.

Mine had Klasse (a lot of SG) PPG and Souveran on it.

I have read here that Sal Zaino is very good about returning emails. It would be interesting to get his opinion on stripping the Klasse to prep for Zaino.

I'm looking forward to your conclusions and comparisons between the two products after you have applied the Z.
