i dont want to damage the paint...maybe a bit of paint thinner? i remember getting some yellow paint on the side of my mercedes rent a car and used some paint thinner and it came right off....worth a try?

Try going to a hobby store that sells model rc airplanes and ask for CA remover. I have no idea what this will do to the paint but I know it will remove the glue. Try on a test spot first and see what it does.

Last time I did it I used a plastic razor blade and solvent, but that was on a well-waxed surface. The time before, I taped the paint off, wetsanded with 400 grit until I had a small blob, then removed the tape and sanded with 2000 until it was smooth to the paint.

Soak a rag with your solvent and let it sit on the glue for 15 minutes. (PLEASE do this outside for your health and safety). Pick away with a plastic razor blade. I'd try 3M or Goof Off

Soak with water, bug remover (let it soak), wash, clay bar with plenty of lube. Amazing what this removes tha you cat see. RANDAL
