Help getting my name out there.

DetailsIM

Hey everyone. This is my Second year in business. My first year customers were customers and word of mouth. What is a good way to get my name out there? Are flyers good for that? I live near some very wealthy neighborhoods that I would def. like to get my name out and get business.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

I would say door to door and ask to inspect their car, point out parts and let them know what you can do to make their car look better. Some people don't realize the amount of imperfections detailers can remove.

I am not saying this works, i haven't done it, but if you came to my door and gave me a flyer that showed some before and afters and showed me how you can get my car to look that way. I'd buy. Just my opinion

^^^ With what was said above by MrNorwall...I don't think thats the best way, this idea is not to come off as a "car sales man" they have the reputation of just closing the deal no matter what. An alternative way of doing what MrNorwall said, wait for them to wash their car...everyone washes their car when its nice out, its the american thing to do...so when they are out there washing, kindly walk over and first compliment them on their car. When you give them compliments it opens the doors to communcation. Thats the objective, communicate, dont be pushy...offer a couple tips here and there about washing, then let them know you do this for a living and you take pride in what you do. If you help them first, they will remember that, so when the time comes around and they dont know how to do something, they will consult your services.

This has worked numerous times for me in this business and other occupations im in. Be helpful and kind...it goes a long way! just my .02!

Thanks for the tips guys. I have noticed that in my area, most people take their cars to a "drive thru" car wash. They have no idea the damage they are doing. You only see true car enthuisasts in my area detailing it themselves. I can't count the # of luxury cars/suv's I see pulling out of a car wash on a nice day.

My area is the same way very wealthy neighborhoods. People around here just care about the best price , they don't care about swirls or anything. I just give them what they want and thats just the market I have.

Every market is different...so adapt your ways to the market. I tend to push the limits where I'm at...meaning im higher priced than most of the competitors, but I simply put it, "you get what you pay for"...and I tell them "you purchased that Mercedes for a reason right?" I like to think of it as, I'm the mercedes of detailing...people thrive on self-image in America! So whatever makes them feel superior they have to have!

Direct mail is the easiest way to reach large numbers of people. It is a bit expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. I just started doing direct mail in November of last year. I wish I had been doing it from the beginning. Check out Unitedol.com to find your local representative. They take care of everything from coupon design to mailing.
