Help choosing products

i have only been a member for a day now but i have been viewing autopia for a while as a guest. i have tried searching many diff times without any luck finding the info i want. i have a black 1999 Firebird that was just painted about 4 months ago and only has about 1500 miles on the paint. the car has some buffing marks from the painter wetsanding and buffing it. it also has some light swirls that occurred before i found the magic of microfiber. previously i had only used NXT car wash and NXT wax on my paint and i always did everything by hand. i was wondering what products i should use on my car to get started on detailing it to a showcar shine? do not limit the products to just waxes, polishes, and buffers, i am looking for a good wash mit and/or brush, and a good drying towel or squegee(right now i am using the absorber). help out a noob :nixweiss :nixweiss

This is a good mitt and find a good waffle weave for a drying towel, if you don't like your absorber. I like absorber myself because I have had it for years and it still works good for me. No squeege it's not a good idea.



Sounds like you need a polisher. You can try AIO to see if that gets buffer marks out but a polisher might be a good idea. I use a rotary but I am very experienced, if you haven't used a polisher you might want to try a PC. http://www.autopia-carcare.com/pc-7424.html



Is it a single stage paint, might effect your polish sealant choice?



Zaino makes a great sealant and has one for single stage. One thing about Zaino is you should put it on a swirl free finish, so if you don't get the swirls out you should try something else that has swirl hidding capabilties. Most people here will say take the swirls out because swirl hidders' only do so much.

to start the nik stands for Altered Perception. it was a little car club that i had created before i joined with Positive Force Custom Cruisers. Is the PC that much easier to use then a rotary because the cheapest i have seen the PC was about $200 and i can get a 7" variable speed rotary buffer/polisher for around $100. the paint is not single stage. in fact i had the painter put an extra couple coats of clear.
