Hey guys, so my brother is the man and ordered me a PC for my b-day. He just ordered it last night from Premium Auto care for 140. It's a PC 7424, but it seems to have only 1 pad. What counterweight would this come with. Also do i need to get a backing velcro pad??? also what pad does this come with, yellow, red?? polishing?? I have no clue. So i was searching at coastal tools. com and it has it for 127/w shipping but comes with a 5 and 6 counterweight and 6" hook and loop contour pad??? Should i just ask him to cancel the premiumauto care one and get the coastal tools. Thanks, also are these pads enough for SMR< and polishing or do i need more stuff and velcro pad. Thanks

Premium Auto Care are good folks but the Coastal Tool deal is much better. If he can cancel the 1st order and place it with Coastal, I think you'll both be happy.

The 7424 comes with the 5" counterweight. See posts by 4DSC about PC info.

At a minimum you need: Velcro backing pad & yellow and white pads. Yellow is generally more aggressive than white so what pad to use depends on the paint condition and the products you are using. Always start with the least aggressive and go from there.

Does PC make a velcro backing pad, if not who does. Also what company pads do you suggest. And can i use the pads they include, the hook and loop and standard white one, or just thrown them out. Thanks ALso would coastal have these and i searched briefly and their site is so-so, if not where else has good pc accessories but with cheap shipping Thanks

PC doesn't include a H&L buffing pad, only a screw-on one. You can use it if you want, I wouldn't just toss it.

For the rest of your questions, the answers can be gleaned from the thread Bret mentioned which is linked in my signature.

Alright, SO CONFUSED< now is this what i do.

1) Buy 7424 from Coastaltools with BONUS pack of

6" Random Orbit Polisher/Sander

with 5" Counter-Weight

6" Foam Polishing Pad #54745

Wrench

Operating Manual

+

6" Hook & Loop Contour Pad #18002

6" Counterweight

So as 4DSC has in another past, the H&L pad is just a pad to apply polish onto??? NOt a velcro backing pad??? So then would i need to buy

2)Hook & Loop (VELCRO)

6" 6-Hole Standard 1 18001 $15.75

Then lastly, the Foam polishing pad i got, can i use it still with new velcro backing pad. If so, for what polish. So i need to buy meguiars Red or Yellow pad for SMR

and what color for Polishing white

all with velcrobacking ??

Would 1 pad for SMR and 1 for Polishing be okay??

Also from where

Thanks

Hopefully will be last question

The white pad that comes with the PC has a backing plate attached to it. So, yes, you will need to buy a Velcro backing plate to use pads that attach to it.

The white PC pad can be used for general polishing. Some here don't care for it but I think its OK for just messing around. If I were you I'd use it first in order to get the hang of the machine.

Yellow pads are generally for more aggressive work. White pads are for mild polishing. So you need both and prolly a couple of each. One can never have too many PC pads.

If you can keep them separate its best to have one pad for SMR and one pad for other products.
