I am trying to come up with a detailing schedule for this spring/summer. I was going to get the PC and some swirl remover first, but I decided to give it a good cleaning, and if I am happy enough w/ out the PC and swirl removers then I saved over $150. If I'm not happy enough, I can buy it and use it next time.

So, I want the products I choose to be fairly easily applied and removed by hand. I am also looking for durability, what good is saving a few dollars on a product when you have to apply it 2x as frequently. Here is what I am considering (mainly for my BLACK Alero):

1) 4* Exterior Detail Kit PLUS Klasse AIO(10oz) 16oz: Ultimate Auto Wash, UPP, and UGE. Also Includes 2 polyfoam applicator pads, 2 microfiber applicator pads, and 2 Cobra Microfiber Detailing Towels. Total: $68

2) 4* UGE/PB QD(16oz), UPP (16oz) Klasse AIO (10oz) Total: $51/$48 (Difference from above is the Wash + Supplies. These supplies might cost me more to buy in a store, or less if I don't need all thats there)

3) PB EX Sealant/EXP (16oz), PB Pro Polish (16oz), PB QD (16oz) Total: $42/$42

4) PB QD (16oz), PB Polish w/ Carnauba (16oz) Total: $25

I want to get the best "Bang for my Buck" since I will be more of a weekend warrior than anything. Also, we have long cold, snowy, slushy, and salty winters here, so that is another reason I would like something durable to last decently through the winter. I think the Klasse/UPP might be good for this...

So, what does everyone suggest?

I would go with the AIO/UPP combo that you mentioned. AIO is a MUST have in my arsenal and is a great base for any LSP. The Detail City Kit at PremiumAutoCare.com is a great place to start. You'll also get towels and the QD which is some of the best I've tried.

I would then go local for your other needs. Shampoo and esp. CLAY. You didn't mention it but it is a necessity as far as surface prep goes.

As a weekend warrior type myself there are a lot of products you can buy locally that you'll enjoy (incl LSPs) and serve a great purpose so I'd check Automotive shops/depts near you.

I did forget to mention clay, but I know about it. I have some that I had used on my last vehicle, but I will have to inspect it and see if it is still usable.

Anyone else want to chime in?

I think #1 or #2 is defintily going to be the best route, but I don't know if I would be better off going with #2, getting a Meguiers wash, and some towels locally, or just getting #1.

Just some input to maybe help you with your decision....I have used NXT wash which I think is about the best wash I can get locally. I have also used the 4* Ultimate Auto Shampoo. There is no comparison. The 4* is slicker, and in my mind, does a better job cleaning. I think it is well worth the extra dough to get some of it. Just my 2/100ths of a dollar.
