Hi guys. First time poster here. Seems like a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable people. I hoping to get some advice starting out polishing as far as products and pads. Right now the only polish I have to practice with is chemical guys v36 and v38. I have seen some comment that the CG V series polish does not cut that good. The only pads I have are a selection of lake county dimpled 5.25in, from cutting pads to fine pads. I also have chemical guys extreme top coat wax and sealant, factory paint sealant, and vintage series butter wax.

My main practice vehicles will be a 97 and a 02 Tahoe with typical swirl marks. Should be perfect to get used to the PC machine and polishing.

I am also interested in different polishes and pads. Meguiars diamond cut and microfiber polishing pads seem pretty popular. Just looking for some feedback, thanks.

I have also been reading that new compounds and polishes along with pads have decreased the time need for paint correction. Generally speaking, is the new technology microfiber pads and compounds designed for DA use?

Welcome to AutopiaForums!!

Many good compounds and polishes out there. Megs 10x offer a lot of cut yet finish pretty good - especially on MF pads.

You can get good correction with a PCXP. Just keep the pad flat, add enough pressure to hear the motor bog a bit but not too much to stop the pad rotating and use slow arm speed.

Good luck and ask away. Is a good forum with a lot of great members.

Welcome to AF. As a regular user of V36, I can tell you that it has very little cut. It also contains fillers that will fool you into thinking its correcting more than it really is. It does however produce a really unique gloss that I've never found in any other polish. If you want to stick with the V line for some reason, try V32 or V34. They both also contain fillers, but they do cut better. I would suggest a better compund such as FG400 or M100.
Mf pads were made for DA use and I highly recommend them.
