Good afternoon - new member here.

Recently purchased a 2008 Dodge Nitro - Electric Blue in color, with the R/T package & fully loaded minus navigation. 25k miles, couldn't be happier!

I decided to share a few pictures with you guys, and I hope I didn't over-due it; I just couldn't decide which pictures to share, and which ones not to..

Without further-a-do..

In the process of moving/cleaning the garage - that's a today & tomorrow project. :)

Tried to get a shot of the flake - a very "flake" heavy paint job when polished correctly.

Another attempt at a flake shot - rear quarter panel :

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

I am trying to figure out what product(s) work best to bring out the flake the most. I've been reading some products diminish flake, while others enhance it.

Still have a LOT of reading and learning to do. :autopia:

looks great!

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the forum. Break out a cold one if you want, as there is a LOT of good information here.

Oh and food's on the table:

Thanks! I have been on these forums a lot more then I thought. I'm constantly opening up new tabs, and my browser is full of them! lol

I spent ~10 hours last weekend polishing and prepping the paint. Took a lot longer, since I do not have all the required tools and polish, but I took what I had, and made it work. :)

Yellow Edge 2000 pad > sample WG Total Swirl Remover 3.0 > Blue Edge 2000 pad> BF Gloss Enhancing Polish - two coats BF Spray Sealant > sample Pinnacle LS spray wax

Not too shabby.. Recouping my funds from the down payment, then I'll try and get a few more items. :)

you can't go wrong with blackfire or pinnacle products, but blackfire is my favorite. i think all your prep was worth the effort!

Welcome to AF! Do you have a polisher yet? If so what kind and what is your experience in detailing? This info will help with reccomendations on products and what not. LSP wise can never go wrong with
Pinnacle Signature Series Carnauba Wax II
$49.99

For flakey paint! Pretty much goto on flakey cars :welcome:

I have a ~10 year old Meg's D/A polisher with Edge 2000 adapter, and a few old Edge pads. I ordered one of the 4" Edge pads, because with all the body lines and curves, the 6" pads weren't working quite as well. I had to move a little slower, actually, because ~2" of the pad wasn't even touching the surface. The only parts where a 6" pad would be beneficial are the hood, and trunk lid.

I feel a 4" pad would be quicker, more efficient on the rest of the vehicle, so I ordered the white Edge 2000 4" pad. I do need new pads, as mine are pretty old, and are starting to fall apart from all the use over the years.

--------------

It's been about two years since I last broke out my polisher - a back injury kept me grounded. I'll be in the market for a new D/A and have tossed around the idea of one of the Flex D/A polishers (non-rotary).

Last time I was around, the Blackfire line was just being introduced - so it's been a while..
