There are just not enough hours in the day anymore during the week. I find myself getting I find myself getting to bed around 6-7 hours a night. Every two weeks or so it catches up with me and I have one of those 12 hour nights. Is there a such thing on training yourself to live on 5-7 hours sleep?

I work 3rd shift so I get less than I should:( I get off work at 7am surf till 9-9:30, Shower, sleep from 10am till 3 or so. I would say that I get 5-6hrs a day:)

Plus my current job requires my services almost 80 hr weeks. I sometime don't know if I am coming or going.

My sleep fluctuates almost everyday. These past two weeks I am getting around 6'7 hours a night, on weekends I sleep 12+ hours, during times of high work, no play, no sleep-2 hours of sleep.

I'll go ahead and vote 6-7 hours.

I try from about 7-8 hours, but it never seems enough. I think I need more exercise...

I seem to get enough on the weekends, and come Monday I can get up on time, but the reset of the week day is a struggle to be anywhere on time. I work 7 AM to 3 PM (to help beat the traffic), so it's a bummer to go to bed at 10 PM so that I can get enough sleep.

I think all of you are perfectly normal. I sleep about 5.5 to 6 hours a day but then on Saturday night I get a good 9 to 10 hours of sleep. I think this type of sleep schedule is becoming more and more prevalent for many Americans. I'm just guessing though. Laters

Nothing like working from home...go to bed around 2am, wake up around noon...(usually). Of course, if there's work to be done, then it's a real pain, 'cause I'm a night owl. :)

eyes shut at about 11PM,

Rise & shine(???:scared ???) at exactly 05h50Am.

Exept at week-ends: night-night at 10PM and rise (certanaly not shine) at about 8AM.

Mondaymornings are allways killing me:mad:

I usually get 6-7 hrs during the week. And sometimes almost 9 on the weekends. If i'm really tired i usually sneak a little nap in after work though.

I like to stay up late and sleep late -- another night owl! I usually try to get to sleep by 1, and be up by 8:30, since I have kids.

My DH works swing shift - a week on 3rds, then a week on 2nds, then a week on 1sts, so he is one sleep deprived dude! :)

I adjust my sleeping to his as much as I can -- when he's on 3rd, I've been known to be up to 2 or 3.

And every AM, I must have my COFFEE!!!! :D

Im the lucky one, i can sleep as looonnnggg as i want to since im on maternity leave. I average a good 10 hours, but on occasions is has been less (if we have gone out somewhere). I normally am asleep by 11-12pm. John goes more or less the same time as me, but hes always up by 6 am Sometimes hes up even earlier going through paperwork, bills, invoices etc. I wont be sleeping long hours all the time, wait till our babys born!

The joys of being a student. I was getting 9 hours of sleep since class didn't start til noon. But now I get about 7 1/2 since I have to be at class to the awful hour of 9am.:D

Ive got the same schedule as red car guy. On my days off, I try to go to sleep by 12am and get up about 8am. Never happens though. I wake up at 2 or 3 am, thinking it is break time. Drives my wife crazy.:bounce

I had an accident a few years ago and haven't been able to sleep more than 3 hours a night since. I work steady days weekends off but no matter how busy I keep myself, I can't get more than 3 hours. Doctor says he's never seen anyone function at a level of any sustainability for longer than a few weeks let alone 3 years.
