Heavily swirled up black truck

Heres some backround info. I had the truck painted, there was some orange peel. Painter wetsanded the truck......thats where the problems started. First time I go and pick up the truck it is heavily swirled and you could see some wetsanding marks. Painter takes back and "fixes" it. Well I get it back and while the swirls arent nearly as bad as before there are still tons of them and the paint is fawked up. Im NOT taking it back again because im not going to play this game and I dont feel like dealing with him anymore. Here are some quick shots I took before I left for school today.

Sun was out, so I grabbed a few pics to show what im working with here. Ill be doing before and after shots.

I was reccomended

06064 3Mâ„¢ Perfect-Itâ„¢ Machine Polish (formerly Perfect-it 3000 Swirl Mark Remover) 1 Qt, LOW VOC formulation. SUGGESTED PAD TO USE - 05738

I will be giving it a shot this weekend. I have buffed cars before and my weapon will be my Dewalt 849. So I am going to buff the truck with that and a black 3m eggcrate pad since thats what I was also reccomended by someone else. Afterwards I will hand polish the whole truck. Ill hafto wait for wax I guess since the paint is only 1 month old. :sadpace:

A guy down the road from me has a very simular truck but in a dark blue color i think it looks pretty nice.

It appears that the truck as a pretty good amount of swirls but also looks like holograms are very apparent. I've found that halograms are very easy to correct its the RIDS that become a pain.

Good Luck, can't wait to see the results, keep us posted.

This johndeere guy kills me with his posts.

I tryed to keep it with you GeorgesBlazah, but i had to comment about him....whats your plan of attack with as far as pad/chemical combo goes? Also what machine are you going to be working with?

I noticed you mentioned 3M's line...are you partial to them or is that what you own or have to work with?

Wow thats bad, if you don't have a lot of experience with a rotary or detailing I would take the car to a well known detailer and get them to fix it. After I was pleased with the results I would make the painter pay for the bill, since he scratched the paint so bad. Just a idea. If not good luck on the detail!

No prob, I understand...I wasnt sure if a war was gonna break out :)

I am going to use the 3Mâ„¢ Perfect-Itâ„¢ Machine Polish (formerly Perfect-it 3000 Swirl Mark Remover) and one of their black pads. I will be using a Dewalt 849. I never really messed with 3Ms stuff, just alot of the Gliptone product since I know a guy that sells that stuff. I was reccomended this 3M stuff so Im gonna give it a shot. Most of this stuff I do on the side for my personal enjoyment :waxing:

Yeah I thought about that, but im the type of person that I just will make sure no one sends buisness to that way. Crappy performance travels faster than a bill ever will.

Wow, what a terrible buff job on his part! Paint looks pretty flat though, I bet that truck will knock your socks off once the paint is polished out.

If you're going to go 3M, I would recommend getting your hands on some Ultrafina SE and a blue pad to follow the PI with.

I can't tell how hard the paint is from the pictures, but if the black pad fails to take out the swirls, drop me a PM and I'll work you through some combos that will definitely fix it and have you looking great.

George, it looks like the body shop did a poor job! You can try 3m Swirl Mark remover and see if that works. The paint shouldnt be very hard, especially at this point. Is that 3m the only thing you have to try? Do you have any Meguiars polishes laying around? I would try and hit it with some m105 then some 80.

Good luck!
