A friend and I tackled headlights on his SVT Ford Contour. I was a little iffy at first, but they turned out good in the end.

Here's the Process:

1. Wetsand with 800

2. Wetsand with 1000

3. Wetsand with 1500

4. PC with sonus SFX-1 pad and 3M Perfect-It II fine cut rubbing compound.

5. PC with sonus SFX-3 pad and Sonus Paintwork cleanser.

6. Z6 rubdown.

Buddy will apply LSP (Z2-Pro???) once headlights are re-installed in the SVT.

Did you use the Michelob Ultra for any sanding?

exactly what I was thinking!

nice work on the polishing -- they look new. Can you put some 3M film on them to prevent the same thing from happening again?

Nice work, I would put on a plastic guard like 3M plastic guard once it’s all nice and clear.

Newer headlights have a thin plastic film and once its removed scratches and oxidation will soon follow if not protected. Putting a sealer/wax on the front won’t last long at all but its better then nothing.

Thanks guys. It took a couple of hours. It will take MUCH less time from now on now that I have a handle on the process. We were experimenting with different techniquies. The one I posted seemed to work the best.

thats amazing work. i currently have a back up set of headlights for my acura cls that i want to remove the orange from and clear them completely. I bought them from a fellow cl owner and they are in descent shape but need to partake in your regimine. For that i must say thanks for this thread because i was not very successful in my dry sanding attempts. Those lights definetly look brand new and i know that a svt contour has to be at least a few years old.
