What is the best and most inexpensive headlight restorer and headlight protector? Is plastic X enough? My headlights are in great condition and I want them to stay that way.

From what I've read on this topic, Plastx can actually remove any applicable UV protection, and is normally reserved for those parts that have excessive dirt, oxidation, or anything else that requires polishing.
IMO, if the lights are in good shape, I would avoid the PlastX, and go with the protectant only. A quick search should get you pointed in the right direction, from Body Shop clear cote, and NXT 2.0, to everything else in between.
