headlight cleaning (inside)

I have a problem and am seeking advice on how to proceed.

I have a 2003 mustang with smoked headlight housings. The inside appears to have some residue appears to be from fumes of some kind maybe the glue they used to seal them.

I would like to clean them but am resistant to taking them appart to do so. Is there some chemistry or method you guys know of to clean them?

Thanks :up in advance for any help...

The Lexus SC line of automobiles has a leaky/condensation problem in its headlights.

For our headlights, we remove the whole unit, stick it in the over at 375 for 10 mins or until warm. Then take it out, pry open the lense, stick it in for another 10 mins, take it out... Pry... stick it in... well you get the idea.

Another method to clean is to boil water and mix "tide" clothes detergent in. Shake/swish it around inside your headlamp and then pour out. use a hairdryer to dry.

You have to be careful before trying any of those methods. For the first method you could break the headlamp, or just reseal it poorly. For method two, you can destroy your smoked effect. Method one is assuming that your lense and your housing are separate and are held together by sealant.

thanks to both of you for your suggestions....:up

Should anyone else have input I would be grateful :D
