HD Uno'd and Poxy'd the Carrera

Was bored on Saturday so stripped the old sealant off the Carrera and did a quick pass with HD UNO. No real corrections necesssary, but I thought what the heck. Applied HD Poxy and am really impressed with how easy it applies and wipes off.

It was rather cool (65 degrees) so it did seem to take the Poxy a while to haze and dry. Had to wait a couple hours to avoid any greasyness.

I am relatively new to Uno/Poxy. Questions for you veterans:

1. Have you found Poxy to be layerable?

2. What kind of durability are you getting for a daily driver?

3. Do you have a favorite QD to pair with Poxy?

I am pleased with the end result but do notice it's not quite as glossy as the Rejex that was on their before. No complaints, just different. May play with QD's to get it to pop a bit differently.

All in all, though, I like it. Super easy to use.

Man, that thing is mint. Of course after seeing what you consider a beater, it shouldn't come as a surprise. :chuckle:

Hi Brad, do you think the duller appearance may be due to hitting it with the UNO? I've never used Poxy but I do own Rejex and I don't find it terribly glossy. From what I have read about POXY I would suspect something else causing the less glossy appearance. Amazing car BTW. Those were the last really good looking years before the 996. Looks like you skipped that whole generation!

Brad very nice specimen,

You are right in saying the shine is different with Poxy than Rejex, Honestly I find Poxy more to my taste than Rejex. Poxy has a much nicer carnauba glow about it where I found Rejex very shiny and also very sterile in it's look if that makes sense.

I have layered Poxy with another coat of Poxy 12 hours apart, a little more shine but not what I would consider hugely noticeable especially on silver. I have not topped Poxy with a wax as yet if that was your question, I don't find a wax topper needed I love the look of Poxy by itself.

The only OD i'm playing with at the moment is 3D Final finish, so I can not comment on others with Poxy.

Hope that helps

Cheers Daniel

Pmnewton, I would not say that poxy is less shiny than Rejex more that it is just a much different look. I find Rejex to be very sterile in it's finish where as Poxy IMO adds more depth to the paint and a much softer warmer finish.

That's what I meant, it couldn't be the POXY that caused the less shiny appearance described by Brad B. on line 13 in the original post. On an unrelated note, I think my new life goal is to retire in Noosa before I'm 55. Cheers!

As much as I like UNO, IMO it looks best on Black, Yellow or Red. For Silver, nothing beats an over the top sealant like Z2, DG111, NXT or as you've seen, Rejex.

Woody: No, I didn't want to add a wax topper, just curious if adding additional layers of Poxy would enhance the look at all. But you answered my question that the advantage is nominal. Thanks!

I like the look of Poxy, but I was used to the 'sharper' pizzaz from the Rejex, and Zaino before that. Yes, I do understand that it may have been sterile, so to speak, but on silver (silver-blue, actually) it really did pop!

I think I may use Zaino Z8 as a QD for a while.

And everyone, thanks for your comments and feedback. :)

Maybe that's the deal-it works best with different colors. And yes, over-the-top, is I supposed what I was used to seeing. So the subtler look of Poxy, which is still nice, is definitely different.

That car is really sweet. Unfortunately at 6'8", it would take the front seat being taken out to drive it.

Have you sat in one? I'm not that tall, 6'3, but I find that Audi's have more leg room than almost any other brand.

Never sat in one, but it looks "small" from the outside. :)

Not a fit problem for me, at a towering 5'9". But my wife is all legs, a 36" inseam, and she fits well. Funny thing, for some reason there is less room in the passenger footwell than the drivers.

The pedals are all manually adjustable, too, so you can get everything perfect. A leftover technology from the race cars.

In general, most german cars let you keep sliding the seat back, passenger feet be dammed. On the other hand, most Japanese cars will have a foot or so of room behind the seat but won't let you move it back. Its maddening. Along with being boring to drive, yet another reason I don't buy Japanese even though I admire the reliability.
