HD Speed Pointers

Just picked up a bottle of HD Speed. It`s a new product for me as I`ve always used Optimum Poli-Seal as my "All in One" in the past.

Any pointers on using it?
Does it dust a all?
What speed on my Griots DA?
Do I need to work it in until it breaks down like a polish or work it in quickly and remove it like a glaze?

I`ll be using it on my wife`s relatively new Accord that just has minor "love marks" as Larry Kosilla puts it...

Keeping in mind I only have LC pads.....which one would play the best with it? I was thinking white polishing pad but I also have their tangerine and crimson Hyrdrotech pads.

Thanks!!

I love this stuff. I use it on a flat white LC pad, around 4-4.5 (I needed some cut, but didn`t want to try the orange pad). It has some Poxy in it, so I will do a fairly large area and let it haze a bit before I go back to wipe off.

Suuuuuuper long working time, and no dust. Performs ok in the sun (better than I expected), but a cool / shady area is better. A spritz of pad conditioner, 4 dots around the edge of the pad, and you are off to the races.

Nick

Edit: Should have added - I "work it in" like a normal polish, then just leave the residue on the paint to haze before wiping off. Wipes off easy no matter if you wait or buff off right after polishing in my experience.

Little to no dusting. I use only use maybe 3 pea sized drops per section You don`t need much

I don`t have a griots, but on my Rupes I usually do a couple of passes on 5 or 6, and then another 1 or 2 passes on 3 or 4.

unlike a regular polish, I apply Speed to the whole car leaving it on as I go, and then wipe it all off when I`m done. Should wipe off very easy

I`ve probably used it with orange/tangerine LC pads more than any other pad. Do a test spot with whatever pads you have until your happy, and then get after it

It hasnt dusted for me. I use BF pad conditioner one spray then 3 dime sized drops. You do your section passes and leave it on to dry then wipe off. I usually will do 2 panels then after the 3rd wipe the first, do a 4th and wipe the 2nd.

As for the other questions you will have to do a test spot or 2 to determine the best course of action on that specific paint.

Thanks guys!

I don`t have pad conditioner. What else can I use?

If I just prime the pad rather than using pad conditioner - is that ok?

never used pad conditioner and have had no issues. I usually just use a 4th dab instead of 3 on the first use of the pad

Is there a DIY pad conditioner one could make? I have an idea but I will wait for others to chime in first.

I do a quick spritz with spray and gloss across whole face of pad
(1 spritz only)(think of the movie red October)

That`s what I use for pad conditioner also Ron. I have not tried, but I bet a small amount of rinseless wash mixed with water spritzed would also work.

Only advice I have is work the product long enough, and make sure you have enough pads available. Four pea sized dots for me...awesome results

3D/HD recommends that no pad conditioning or priming be done with their products. 3-4 pea sized drops for the first section then 3 pea sized drops for successive sections. Too much product with Speed usually results in dust.

I tried it for the first time the other day. Long work time, super easy on/off,no dust.

I usually use a pad conditioner, but I didn`t feel like looking for it,so I skipped it. No issues.

I have a Cyclo,so I don`t know what the equivalent pads would be. I used a green pad,(very little cut).

I did the hood, roof, and trunk before removing it. I did one side of the car at a time before removal.

I`ve been using Collinite 476s and 915 for years, so I`m used to applying THIN coats. I don`t know if that matters with Speed.
