HD Poxy

I didn't see if anyone threw up a review page so I'm posting this. I received a full size sample of it so I have plenty for two details this weekend, I'll post more opinions then. I used it today on a freshly washed car. HD Poxy is a cream that kinda reminds me of a hand cream for skin, in smell and texture. So I was expecting it to go on like a wax with fillers, but it didn't at all. Once the cream goes on paint, trim, or windows it acts just like any top grade sealant. It leaves a nice deep wet look and no haze at all on windows. It also came with a brochure of the entire HD lineup, and from what it seams these folks put together a complete lineup of detailing products. I'm doing 2 details this weekend, I'll try and get some photo's up, but I definitely like the product as far as use and looks go. We'll see about durability later.:up

What more can you say about a wax? I was working in a very hot garage and left the product on for a long time and it came off with ease. I had no issues with any trim or windows. The product was a pleasure to use. I think they are going after the Zymol crowd, the lineup reminds me of something you'd see from Zymol. I'm sure anyone would like this stuff, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase some. It leaves a very nice finish, seams thick and slick- not oily. I'm not sure you are going to get the glow that you can only get from an oily high end nuba, but I'm sure this stuff is more durable. I'm going to try and get the car owner to come back before thanksgiving to check durability. It will be very easy to tell, this paint was in horrid condition, it was clayed then sprayed with z6 to get the nasty clayed mess off, then a coat of HD Poxy, that's it. I'm looking forward to trying a few HD products.

The tribute was in bad shape, the truck is new. Even after the tribute was washed, it felt like sand paper. Clay fixed it up nice, and HD put a nice deep wet look on it. I didn't take before shots. A couple more shots...

I used it on the sunroof and it had crystal clear vision, unlike some other sealants and waxes that leave a haze. I'm tired of using aquapel (PITA), so if this gives some decent durability it's worth the purchase price just for that.

Gonna update my review, hope I don't get voted off the island :bat but these are my findings. First, I applied it to a few cars since this review, it adds a noticeable "wax like" gloss to any paint. I enjoy using HD, it is very user friendly. Here it is on a new Rav 4 which has real glossy paint even before wax, however it was noticeably wetter looking after HD Poxy.

Now for the bad...

I haven't had much issues with HD Poxy around moldings, but I have had problems with the plastic strips that dealers are putting on cars these days to avoid chips. The thin strips pull the HD Poxy out of the applicator and stain the edge just as shown in the picture. This occurred on every one of these strips I've used with HD Poxy.

Furthermore,

I went to the first test vehicle today to test durability and this is what I found. It was my first time seeing the Mazda since I detailed it. There is no protection left whatsoever. We have had very mild weather here in Nor Cal, but yet the protection is gone. I can't say when it failed, but it hasn't been three months yet. In HD Poxy's defense the vehicle is outdoors 24/7. I will say despite the few issues I've had, I still enjoy using the product.

Not good, suprised ! :(

Slickery:

Not to hijack this thead, but what did you use on the tires and the RAV4's vinyl cladding? The tires have a nice gloss to them, but not too glossy.

(Inquiring minds what to know)

Is the HD-Poxy a wax, a sealant, or a hybrid? What would you compare it with?

Stoners I just use a rag to wipe after to prevent sling.

I would say HD Poxy has a lot of wax like characteristics, it is deep and wet looking, and a "shell" that reminds me of a wax. It seams durable but not as durable as some other sealants, similar to a wax. They say it is a sealant, so who am I to argue with that, they would know better then me. But in my opinion it seams somewhere in between a wax and a sealant.

I have 2 cars that I used poxy on. I'll post them when I get my computer set up finally, but on the bottle it says to wax your car 4 times a year. So 3 months is right on the money for claimed durabilty.

I presume that the HD Poxy would cause the same problem on the edges of 3M like clear bra material. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Maybe someome from 3D would comment on this problem?

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

I think you are both talking about the "Clear Bra" weather it is from 3M or someone else. Well it is hard to believe but only 0.50 ounce-1 once is needed to do an entire vehicle. From the pictures I can see that there has been some product got caught on the creases. Probably more Poxy is been applied than needed. Yes HD Poxy is a Hybrid sealant/Wax. We claim the durability 3 months. However we are going to show a great sealant system on the 25th June at the Autopia's 10th year anniversary/seminar.

It is called HD Nitro sytem and will have part a (the clear sealant) and part b (the bonding agent).

By the way the new HDPOXY 3.0 is improved in durability as well and it is for sale now.

We claim the durability is improved to 6 months on regular use.

Not sure why you felt the need to not only post this here, but also start 2 separate and identical threads both before and after Ben answered your reply? But, regardless; I also feel that the reason why there is such a heavy buildup of dried POXY surrounding the trim protector is clearly due to excessive use of product AND a faiilure to remove the product from the surface completely. It's a pretty common problem with most sealants actually when these parameters aren't done accurately.

Ben I ordered the deal on Uno and Poxy, just got it last week, how do I know if Poxy is the new version?

The new version has been shipped out for the last month or so it should be the new version. There should be a born on date on the bottle? I can confirm it with that. (Black numbers printed directly on the bottle).

I heard it was a very hard wax... I don't recall who said it? Accumulator? Scottwax maybe? Somebody lol.

It could have been me saying it was really thick? Here's what I'm basing this on:
