HD Poxy without clay or polish?

I have some customers who just want a wash and wax...no clay, no polish. Has anyone tried using HD Poxy with out claying and polishing? I love how easy Poxy is to work with and the longer durability of a sealant, but not sure if it will bond properly without doing the proper prep work before applying.

Unless the car feels like sandpaper, i dont think you or your customers will notice a difference in durability. (Keep in mind poxy isnt the most durable out there but its looks are killer) I say go for it.

I love poxy.

I've seen claying nowadays as an included step with any polish or wax job. But as said before, it's not gonna ruin anything unless the paint has some serious suspended debris, and even then it's just gonna show slightly on your pad.

Sometimes for the price people expect a wash and wax job to be...

Obviously the proper way is to clay and charge accordingly.

So from what you guys are saying Poxy will bond properly but application/removal might be a little more difficult. Works for me if I can offer longer durability at a slightly higher price point...side benefit is I do not have to work about staining trim.

I have used Poxy without claying on cars multiple times. As long as the surface feels relatively smooth it works just as well. Basically I wash it and then decide if clay is necessary or not. These are usually on newer cars that are garaged almost always. Just make sure to clean the paint well during the wash phase.

For example, I was able to get away without claying this car before Poxy. If you look at the pic, the left side is fully washed, and the right side is basically untouched. There were A LOT of bugs, but underneath the paint was great.

I'm totally going to de-rail this thread.....

but why reach for Poxy on an un-clayed surface? You'd be doing yourself AND the customer a favor by using one of the Super AIO's available now. Until a few years ago, you'd be hard pressed to find an AIO that would last more than a month. Now there are several options. ZAIO is the undisputed king of AIO durability and it looks killer to boot. It also goes amazingly far. If you are cheap, the reformulated Nu-Finish is a total steal, though I'd put it in another bottle so your customer's don't see it!

You'll end up with cleaner paint, the customer will have a shinier, smoother car and it will be easier to clean next time.

I almost always go with an AIO (Poli-Seal, D151, Poorboys PwS) but I have never been real impressed with durability...maybe ZAIO should be on my shopping list? I was thinking that for a vehicle that is in good condition Poxy might be the answer because of its ease of use and reasonable durability. Also, I have a giant bottle of it and need to use it!

Yeah, I love Poliseal and D151 but like you have durability issues. I also had a mega bottle of Poxy. I pulled out a 5 year supply (12 oz) and gave the rest away! ZAIO, DG501 and NuFinish have given me exceptional durability.

I would use a something like Megs D151 and if it doesn't last long, you will get to do it again and they will pay you. You can always explain that the cheaper treatment doesn't last as long. Most will understand that concept.
