Well I just received my sample of HD Free Water(less) Wash. I tried out real quick today. This isnt a full review as I didnt get to use it to its full potential, just a few test areas.

Out the box the packaging alone looks different from most other brands out there. My girl saw the slip/advertisement that came with the package and said it looks more like a line of beauty products than car care stuff.

Ofcourse I took the mandatory sniff. The stuff smells good. Its not an overpowering scent. Nothing fruity like normal car care products. With a product like this, scent means a lot. I cant stand using Megs UQD because the smell just irritates my nose after going through less than half the car.

Well heres my quick preview...

AFTER

Right off the bat im pretty impressed with this stuff. I must admit ive never used a waterless wash before, unless you count QDs. Without going too much into detail (so I can save it for the full review) I will say what impressed me most is how easy it is to wipe away. When I used QDs (on a dirty car) I always had to buff after. With this stuff it was 1 pass to wipe away the dirt and 1 more dry pass with the other side for good measure.

Hopefully this weekend I can use it more to give it a full indepth review. Hopefully I can get some shots under some halogens to truly test the product.

I also noticed that you can use it pretty much anywhere (leather, vinyl, glass, etc). So I plan on cleaning essentially my whole car in and out with this stuff.

FULL Review

So I got a chance this labor day weekend to try out HD Free. I was pretty weary to try it on my car since it was extremely dirty. But I figure, what better way to test the limits of this product. I tried to get some shots of just how dirty it was but being that my car is silver, its a little hard to capture.

So as you can see, the car was pretty damn dirty. If it shows up like that on silver than its filthy. After going back and forth in my head whether I should just ONR the car and save the product for another day (due to the filth) I finally got over it and gave it a shot.

I used two towels. One cobra shamrock and one Sonus Ultimate MF. The process was spritz the panel (I probably used way too much) and give it one swipe to pick up the dirt. Than lightly spritz the panel again and flip the towel to pick up any remaining dirt. And for good measure I buffed the panel with the Sonus towel just incase there was any moisture left on the panel.

This was the first panel I worked on, the passenger front fender. This was what I thought was a "light spritizing". I probably used more on the subsequent panels since I was a little worried about marring

Some type of 50/50 shot. The left is the panel after the first pass of the mf. The right is the dirty but sprayed down side.

This is the hood after it was completely done. Looked pretty damn nice to me. I was surprised

This was my first towel completely used. Both sides. It doesnt look too dirty in the pictures but in person they were filthy. Kind of scary

The rest of the shots are random after shots. Sorry I didnt take more pictures of the actual process.

This was my favorite picture because ive never been able to take a pic from this distance and have the flake show through like it is.

FULL EXTERIOR REVIEW

I really like this stuff. From a cosmetic standpoint the packaging looks good and the product smells great. I see they call it a lotion. It does actually smell more like something you would rub on your skin than rub on your car. The smell was on my hands the rest of the day and I didnt mind a bit.

Anyways on to the performance. The product worked flawlessly. It seems to be extremely gentle. I doubt it would compromise your LSP. At times it was too gentle (this isnt a complaint by any means). There were a few very small things that I scraped off with my finger after. The stuff was so small that no one but me would notice it though. Besides being gentle it seemed to have a ton of lubricity. I think I could have gotten away with using less but I felt comfortable using the amount I used.

One great thing is it wipes away so clean even on hot panels. I have problems with streaking on my roof when Im doing my car on warm days in the sun. OCW, AW and various QDs all streak and dry up way too quickly before I can do much. I had 0 problems with this.

I dont know if I was going crazy but this stuff actually added to the look. It added quite a bit of depth to my silver and really made the flake come out. I was planning on refreshing my LSP but I just ended up leaving it alone as I liked it so much. It also adds to the slickness. Its not the synthetic slippery slickness like 425 or UPP. It feels like that buttery slickness of a good nuba.

All in all a great product. I mentioned before Ive never used a waterless wash, only QDs. I only use QDs as gloss enhancers after a wash or for smudge/fingerprint removal. To be honest, I might use this stuff in place of my QDs since it added so much to the look. You get a ton of cleaning power, and a ton of gloss enhancement all in the same package. Usually with a QD its a tradeoff between the two. You either get one or the other. This brings both to the table.

I like this product a lot. I could see myself using it in place of ONR washes when its only been 2-3 days after a wash. I still see myself using ONR though when my car gets as dirty as it was. There really wasnt much of a time improvement, but that could have been since I was being extremely careful.

Oh, some information I forgot to add. I only used 3 towels. 2 shamrocks and my 1 sonus towel. I also wasnt able to inspect under halogens, BUT, my car sits under a streetlight that brings out all the defects at nighttime (god placed it there to mock me). I went out at night and couldnt see any noticeable amount of marring. My car isnt perfect (its a DD) and does have some marring so I couldnt tell if it was new or old. I will say that if it did mar my finish it wasnt an appreciable amount. I did expect there to be more since my car was so dirty. On a slightly dirty car I think you could get away without marring. Its perfect for a garage queen.

All in all I give it two thumbs up. Im very impressed. Im still trying to get my business off the ground and I see a market for this. It would be great for soccor moms who just wants a quick wash on the outside and isnt worried about marring. Just fill up a 32oz sprayer and spray down half the car. Go to work with the mfs and be done in less than 15 minutes. Hopefully HD will come out with quarts or even half gallons of the concentrate. Right now they only offer 12oz ($35 dilutes to make 144oz).

DAVID PLEASE OFFER DICOUNTED BULK QUANTITIES.

So up next will be my review on how it works on the interior.

Any questions feel free to ask

great reveiw seems like this stuff is great for weekly maintence wash! Hmmm I never got any samples I was offered? Glad to see you like it!

Loking forward to the review will you review the sealant as well.

The Waterless product left a very nice bright shine really brough out the flake.

These products are interesting.

Nice review, looks like a great product. I may have to look into getting myself some. How many mid-sized cars do you think you could do with a bottle if you used the correct amount and not over do it like you said you did?

Great review I can't wait to try this stuff. This would be perfect for my garage queens and clean up in between driving them. Right now I have been using PB S and W and ONR.
