Hazy rear hatch glass window on the outside

What's the best way to get rid of the haziness? It's definitely on the outside and only where the wiper wipes off. Every other area of it looks normal, only hazy in the wiper area. I tried scrubbing with Stoners and along with some glass polish product and elbow grease. Nothing so far. What else can I try?

As you can see, where the wiper doesn't wipe, the glass is clean. No spots.

Believe it or not, steel wool didn't do much right now. Found Fine and Very Fine in the basement now, along with another sample of unknown hardest and also gave it a try (felt the coarsest of the three) and still nada. unamused

I first tested all three on a piece of glass I found to see if it would leave scratches and went to town. No matter how hard I scrubbed either up or down or circular motions, it didn't scratch. Repeated the same on the hatch glass and still nothing.

And more ideas?

It's hard to tell what it is. If it's water spotting try using some distilled white vinegar and scrubbing with #0000 steel wool. That should remove it if it is indeed water spotting.

If it's scratches from running the wiper when the glass was dry you might need to polish it out via machine.
