Have I done the right thing?

They look like very stiff bristles. I have had experiences with similar brushes that were rough on painted wheels and clearcoat. Also, be careful of the wire in the center. I can see how it would easily rub the wheel spokes.
 
i would be careful of the metal wire, particularly the tip. hard to tell from a pic how stiff the bristles will be. best of luck with it.
 
As far as I know the wire is coated to prevent such mishaps.



In any case, if I am not happy with this coating I will cover it and the tip in a rubbery tape used to seal water hoses etc. This tape is very user friendly and has helped making my other detail brushes scratch safe as well.



Regarding stiffness, it is a bit of a gamble. I hope my Borbets are not affected. I will go easy.
