Has anyone used SONAX Premium Class Paint Cleaner ???? Likes dislikes ??? Can this be used instead of IPA wipedown?

I LIKE Sonax Premium Class Paint Cleaner. Works excellent before waxing, but it does contain abrasives. It is not a true paint cleaner like Lime Prime or HD Cleanse. Menzerna Top Inspection is a great paint cleaner that won't dry out the paint like IPA. I use Top Inspection in my shop every single day.

Nope, it's actually used to clean away any silicones or fillers left behind by your polishing compounds. It allows you to really see what correction work has been done after polishing.

John,

Are you still using Menzerna Top Inspection after polishing and before LSP? Have you found anything better to clean and prep the finish for LSP

Just ordered some of the Premium Class Paint Cleaner. Still on my quest to find a product that cleans paint well, has minor polishing ability for micromarring and is easy to clean up (non dusty).

car-pro erasure!

I tried top inspection and found it to be very streaky. Might need to revisit it with new towels as I used longer nap ones

i never found the streaking of top inspection to be much of an issue if anything it's like wowo sealant you just had to wipe it enough to let it evaporate by itself.

Sonax markets this as a base for their Nano Paint Sealant, so this could well be the single paint-cleaner that leaves absolutely nothing behind.

Let us know your opinion about it after you try it. I've always steered away from it because of the price...

I have used it since I posted this subject. It works very well. I really like it. Easy to use. I used it to basiclly clean off all old waxes or sealants to start with a clean surface. As far as major correction look elsewhere.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Good cleaning action to prep the surface and just a bit of finishing polish to wake the finish up again. Also finally ordered some V7 since you won't stop talking about it :D

what makes a great cleaner?

Strong chemical action, usually solvents, to remove embedded contamination, residual LSPs and other stuff stuck to the paint that claying doesn't get.

One of the reasons I love ZAIO is because it is a fantastic cleaner and mild polish. Sometimes I don't want the LSP portion of it.

In the above picture, the car was heavily clayed, and as you can see by the crap on the pads, the ZAIO removed a ton of contamination.

Got the Sonax paint cleaner today. Color me completely underwhelmed. Its more runny than KAIO which makes it very difficult to use by machine (splatter), it isn't a particularly strong cleaner....AND the nail in the coffin, it appears to leave something behind. Paint does not come close to passing the squeak test.

So your favorite cleaner is ZAIO???
