This pad was used on 1 fender of a truck, 20 minutes total.

Washed with dawn and room temp water.

Was not wrung dry or even squeezed.

Air dried standing up.

This pad at least made it through a full vehicle, a GMC Jimmy s10.

Washed and dried the same way as the first one.

Both pads same scenerio.

Washed, air dried and when i woke up the next morning they looked like that ^

Interesting. I've not had this problem with DAS or SFX pads, but with Lake Country. In fact, I was going to post about my consistent issues with newer lake country pads.

I've used the DAS orange pad on a few details and it's been holding up well. I'd contact the seller. Probably a defective pad.

I sent an e-mail to auotpia/sonus about it with these picks.

Im wondering who else might have had these issues with these pads.

I also have the a green polishing pad that is wearin gout in the middle, there is almost a hole in the middle of the pad.

I just got an e-mail back and they are replaceing them asap.

Customer service is top notch for real!

that second pad in the bottom pic is really torn up in the center....none of mine have done that, let alone have the backing peel off. not that i'm doubting the pads are defective, but are you using a lot of pressure? what size are those pads? looks like the backing plate is much smaller than the pad.

Coupe, a couple of suggestions after using many brands/colours, including this one.

Dawn is too strong - it can wreck the glue. Just regular dishwashing liquid is ample.

Don't apply too much pressure when polishing. What size backing plate are you using?

Actually i dont know what size the backing plate is.

I bought the DAS PC kit from autopia, im assuming its the right sized BP. Im sure the pads are 7" though.

The instructions says to wash with Dawn dish soap OR the wunderwash (sp?) they sell. So i did follow the instructions to the T. Since Dawn is cheap and local thats what i use. Alfish, what do you mean regular dishwashing liquid? Dawn is pretty much a regular ole dishwashing soap.

I dont use any pressure with the orange pad, dont need to, this pad breaks down DACP so quick there isnt any reason to give it any pressure.

The pads where set up on edge to dry.

Try something different to wash your pads with. I wash mine using Meguiars gold class shampoo, it's alot milder than dawn. No problems.

I've heard alot of people use Woolite, look for the generic at a Dollar store..

I have never seen that before and to be fair to Lake Country I haven't had any issues with their pads at all and the new backing plate I got kicks the pants off my Meguiar's one.

Sorry Coupe, the Dawn sold in Australia is stronger than regular dishwashing detergent. My bad. Is your Dawn gentle on hands? :D

I use regular dish soap on my orange DAS pads all the time and they've lasted over 12 months without damage. The pads you have are obviously faulty.

And you're right, those orange pads are excellent at breaking down polishes with little pressure and leaving very little hazing.

Let us know how your new pads go. :up

I thought I was alone with this problem. This happened AGAIN with the second pair of DAS/SFX pads that I purchased. The DAS looked like the SFX pad that I bought last year, and again the orange pad separated in the middle of the detail. You cannot say again that it was the pc, because the other pads stayed together and did well.

I am going to try a different pad manufacturer on the next detail!

Its something with the orange pad for sure.

My other pads are perfectly fine and they get used and washed the same way the orange pad does.

If you have a pad issue, I assure you it will be taken care of, we guarantee all of our products so please send me an email to the Autopia-CarCare.com orders link (I answer all of that email) with your information I will make sure you are taken care of. ;)

I have had a similar problem with my orange pad, although I take full responsibility for letting it happen. I was using a pc alternative here in australia and the pad was quite damp. I noticed the pad being eaten in the centre ring there (I thought it was dusting for 2 panels it was that lightly done). The backing plate on the RO was very tough and the velcro stuck incredibly strong! With only the front bar left on the car I was detailing at the time it finally gave way and shot across the garage! It was the cool exit that eased the pain of a ruined pad. I'd only used it on a couple of cars and a guitar at that stage, but I still take responsibility for misuse :xyxthumbs

Though it is good to see I mightn't be as hard on my gear as I thought it was!
