Has anybody encountered these?

I wish . . .
I'm plagued with brake dust on my CR-V, and while it does wipe off easily since I treated the wheels w/EX-P, I'd like to avoid the mess entirely. Besides, I can't get to the back of the wheel to clean it, unless I take the wheels off - something I don't plan to do very often!

Anyhow, I just found these on AutoGeek, and wondered if anybody had any experience with them - good, bad or otherwise?

I'd be concerned that they might hold the heat in and that could cause other problems. Are the brake pads factory? most of those are very soft and dust like mad. You might want to go to a harder pad that will dust less. HOwever dusting is all apart of the cars these days

I guess my concern would be appearance. Depending on the tyype of wheels you have, how hard/easy would it be to see these while looking at the car? Would it take away from the appearance of the car?

Get yourself some Porterfield street brake pads. These are performance pads that dust very little. They also make your car stop a lot better. If they do not have pads available for a CRV, they can make them for you.

I got tires of dealing with brake dust so I switched to ceramic brake pads.

Brake dust is almost non-existant and braking performance is still excellent.

:yeah
I would stay away from the wheel liners because of excessive heat. Plus my son's car had something similar and they didn't work that well.
Bendix Ceramic pads work quite well, and there is very little dust

I also think you are better off with ceramic pads rather than the dust shields. New front pads never hurt either.

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, I was worried about the "heat build-up" issue. They SAY "improved turbo vents in the alloy discs direct cooling air across your brakes", but I have my doubts that it would be enough here in AZ and don't want to face those issues if it's not!!

And yes, they are the factory originals. I only have 5,000 miles on the car, so I probably won't be changing them anytime too soon, but I will remember to ask for harder "ceramic" when I do! 'Til then, I guess I should stock up on S & W!!

Thanks again,

Norah

when I bought my car last year, the guy told me he just put on new front & rear pads .... gee, thanks.

But he neglected to tell me they were most vegetable 'cause they dusted like crazy, fronts & rears must have set him back at least $10 ..... max

I'd wash the car, go to work & return home (6 mi round trip) & the fronts looked like I sprayed them with graphite dust.

Ceramics will cost you a few bucks more, but the relief from aggravation is worth it.
