Hard paint question - BMW

I have detailed both an Orient Blue `04 BMW 530iA and an `04 530iA in Sapphire (sp?) Black. I found both of these colours to be extremely hard. Am I just crazy or are the "newer" BMW paints harder than the old ones? I was using a P/C on speed 6 with varing pads.

i find mercedes to be almost impossible to get all the swirls out of, bmw is nowhere near as tough.

my 86 bmw has EXTREMELY soft paint. i havent had a huge problem with new ones.

I am planning on getting a flex and switching to Mazerna FPII and 106FF this year. I think that combo will really help get the swirls out. I already know I will be doing the Orient Blue one again this year.:woot2:

You guys must be lucky because all of the BMW's I work on have soft paint, and I'm working on most M3's. Course, maybe it's the product you're using. I polished out a 2007 AMG CLS63 with Ceramiclear using my PC and an orange pad with Prima Swirl with no problem. Polished it to a flawless finish.

I always thought BMW's (especially solid black ones) were Hard to polish, not hard in composition? One of the most sensitive finishes I've come across.

Jet Black is one of the hardest to polish well and even harder to maintain well because it scratches and swirls so easily.

Thats been my experience also. The one's i've owned have had extremely soft paint.

I thought my black C6 was difficult to polish. Then I tackled my girlfriend's Mercedes C320. Yikes, did I have a tough time with that. That was way more difficult than the vette. :angry

Lots of experience--tends to be like BMW paint. Medium Soft. If you consider that Corvette's and Mercedes with Ceramiclear are hard, then BMW and Porsche paint are pretty soft, lol.
