Harbor Freight Tools

COME AT ME BRO
I am thinking about buying some air tools for my garage at home, and was wondering what some of you guys thought about Harbor Freight. They seem to have some of the things I am looking for at a reasonable price. I guess I am looking for information from people who have used them before about things such as customer service, shipping times, returns, etc. I would like to buy a few things, non-detail related, and would really appreciate some feedback and opinions on them. Anyone?? :thanks

Harbor Frieght was a mainstay for me when I lived in a village in the interior of Alaska. Mostly because I could not afford to purchase name brand items. The thing that I want to express about them is that every tool that I purchased from them worked. It did get the job done. Saying that I have to tell you that very seldom did it do another job. You get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for .... kind of like comparing Ryobi tools (for the home handyman) to DeWalt tools (for guys who earn a living with them).

So far, the various tools I've bought have worked out well, nothing has outright failed, and I'm satisfied with their performance.

I'll have to agree with everyone else, everything I've bought has worked just fine for me. I wouldn't use most of their stuff for industrial use, but for the everyday homeowner, no proplem. I would reccomend going to a harborfreight store if there is one near by. Some items look good in the catalog but when you check them out at the the store, not worth the money.

I got my rotary from HF, the one odd thing about there shipping is that it's done in a bulk fashion, it took close to 2 weeks to get something from them in CA to here in NY, where it normally take about 1. Unless of course you pay for an expedited service

I wouldn't buy anything more then a hammer or a set of screwdrivers from HF
I would never buy anything with alot of working parts, or any power tools from there. Even with few uses they are going to break on you right when you need them the most.

For tinkering around the home they will work just fine. Having said that Sears and everyone else will be having the end of year sales.

the harbor freight in michigan i went to had ingersol rand air tools which is a good name in air tools. the other brands are ok for occasional use i would say.

Thanks for the replies eveyone. I checked around at Lowe's last night and found what I am looking for. It will cost me a little more, but then again I do get to see the tools in person, it's a name brand I have used before with good results, and it will be an easy return if they don't work like I expect them to. Plus, I have a couple of gift cards from there. I appreciate all the responses. Just goes to show how helpful DC is - even when it comes to non-detail related queries. :)
