Happy Birthday MustangGT/25YRS

Detailing NY

New member
I just got a contract for 75 vans. the company wants them washed at least one a month. No detailing, just a plain wash and vacuum. To speed things up i was going to use the big hogs hair brush. I never bought one becuase i always wash by hand, but 75 vans is a lot and will take forever. I was thinking of using my power washer and brushing the vans down with the brush. I dont like to cut corners but i need to find a way i speed things up with the washing.

The van color is white, so i think the brush would work.

Any idea's?

Holy Smokes! You'll be averaging over 2 and a half vans a day!

I think your boar's hair idea is good, especially considering the fact they aren't interested in getting the vans waxed. So they probably aren't going to care about a little swirling here and there.

In fact, if it were me, I probably wouldn't even bother with the brush. I would just spray them down real quick, squirt some cheap diluted car soap all over them and then rinse them down. Any leftover dirt I would remove with my drying towels.

Yeah, white won't show swirls that much. If they just want them washed and cleaned inside then I doubt they are too worried about swirls. The brush idea should work pretty well. If you just blow through em and they aren't that bad inside then it shouldn't take you more than an hour or so per van.

That is a great contract. I got a deal like that for a flower shop once. Their vans were always a mess inside and it took me a good 4 hours per van everytime they brought one over. It was the vans that were on lease return status that were always the biggest pain because they had to come out looking perfect. Good luck with that company. Sounds like good business.

Thanks for the feedback. I start up next week. I think i will take 3 guys with me, one to clean the inside, one to dry and one to wash. I will be the guy with the power washer.

Good contract! I would suggest going with DI water to eliminate most of the water spots and the headaches that are asscoiated with hard water. At most water stores, DI water can be purchased for .15 to .25 cents per gallon. As you mentioned, 2 vans a day, this would be a big time and headache saver. Guys doing lot washes use DI water and a brush for the reasons above. The faster ones doing washes (1 person) do 100 cars in 4 to 6 hours - no soap unless really needed. I know the is not what you are doing but the DI water plays a key factor in their wash biz . . . best of luck!:up

You would find it under drinking water in the yellow pages. Deionized water or di for short - if I spelled it correctly, sheets off the water and dirt. The reason is, no minerals in the water itself - thus leaving very little water spots. Most of the stores have a hose for bulk water in the rear to fill up water tanks.

Happy Birthday MustangGT/25YRS, hope your doing fine and have a great day with the family. :happybday::bday cake::happybday::bday cake::happybday::bday cake::happybday:
