Hand polishing

I have never been one to do much polishing by hand and have a set of mirros that I cant seem to get to my likeing. There are some fine scratches that are apparently from my mf applicator that I cant get out. I started with 1zpp and created more of a problem than started with (to aggresive obviously) then switched to mp and while the situation got better there still there in the right light. I have some sonus PWC and VM, and some AIO to try and wanted to see what you guys thought. Should I try a diff. applicator?

Thanks in advance!!!

I am now of the oppinion that it is the applicator....I have since tried VM with no luck and then AIO using a for and aft motion and now the fine scratches are visible in this direction only. Could a sponge applicator be the solution here?

Well I have since used a handi grip app and some VM and the mirror has cleaned up quite nicely......Still not to my likeing but I hope that maybe a foam app and some mp will be the solution

What kind of app were you using? I've only used foam and MF with PP and MP and I didn't have any problems (used on both hard and soft paints). But then all MFs are not created equal ;)

Note that PP needs to break down.

I'd probably do over it numerous times with MP if I were concerned about the PP being too harsh. Sorta a fine line between MP and VM, with MP being a bit more abrasive. Both will do some hiding, but which one hides more is hard to say.

If you like how it looks with the VM then that might be your answer :D

I was using a sonus MF app. To me MP has always looked better than vm.....Im going to try the foam app with mp today and see how that turns out. The scratches are not something you can just walk bye and see you have to really get up close look in the right light.

Unless your MF applicators are soiled or have some kind of grit in them, I can't imagine how they could be the cause of your problem. I usually apply PP with a clean cotton terry app. (which is more aggressive), and I've never experienced anything like that. Another possibility is grit on the paint surface.
