Hand Polishing Q

Hey all, been a long time that i have been here. I am in need of a 2 step polish that i will be doing by hand. Anyone have any opinions of products?

I was going to be showing my brother the basics of a detail on his car. Maybe i should just grab something off the shelf and use that. ZPC by hand work ok?

Depends on what you are trying to do. Generally you use a polish to rid the paint of oxidation, or swirls, or other imperfections such as those. ZPC will work but not to take out swirls by hand, it doesn't do it that well by machine so by hand I don't think you will get that great of results.

If you are not trying to get out swirls or other imperfections just show him how to clay and wax a car. For polishing, I would leave it for the machines.

Megs Ultimate compound or 105 by hand. ZPC won't remove defects by hand but it is a good paint cleaner and should clean up any hazing left by UC or 105.

Two different approaches for two different situations:

Serious: M105 (or Ultimate Compound), IPA wipe, M205 (or Scratch-X v2.0). Lots of work but you might get some really stunning results.

Less serious: 1Z Paint Polish. Less correction but much more user-friendly.

In this case I'd go with the 1Z Paint Polish and a coat of Collinite over top of the stuff the 1Z leaves behind. Maybe not "Autopian" but the best thing I can think of for situations like this.

Meg's Ultimate compound by hand is a winner.
