Hand polish/minor scratch remover

I am definitely a n00b when it comes to detailing, but the few cars I've done have taught me that I need a polish. They are fairly new cars, but they have never even been waxed in their life! I'm looking for a good, fairly inexpensive polish that I can use after claying and California Gold Scratch Remover (for the big stuff) to remove minor swirls and scratches in one application by hand. Also, it must either be a one-step polish or if the polishing aspect of AIO is strong enough, I might get that as a finishing polish. The Poorboy's SSR2 and 2.5 look good, but any suggestions and/or reviews would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
 
Or maybe SSR2 followed by PWC, then EX-P? Anyone? I don't have any wax or polish (other than Cali Gold), so any and all suggestions are welcome.
 
If you're planning on detailing cars other than your own, you'll save more time and $ by investing in an electric polisher. Depending on what you charge, it will pay for itself in no time at all.

If you're looking at correcting 'minor' finish flaws and a chemical cleaner to attack water spots, minor bird bomb stains, etc.. then Poorboys Pro Polish works very well by hand.
 
i'm not doing that many people's cars, just a few, and I would rather go the safer route of doing it by hand. I'm only 16 yrs. old, so I really can't charge too much. I don't need just a one step polish/wax either--I have enough time to do it as two better, seperate steps. Im looking to correct minor scratches, too. Does Pro Polish remove those sorts of swirls and scratches that can be seen directly around the sun's reflection, too? Thank you again, mgm2003, for another quick and excellent response.
 
I have used Meg's ScratchX by hand with very good results. It will take some time to do it properly by hand, but if you're not looking to get a polisher of some sort, you are going to have to dedicate some time to scratch/swirl removal.
 
I have Mother's Cali Gold scratch remover, which does wonders on all the parking lot scars, but in this case I'm talking about those swirls and scratches you only see in the sun, right around its reflection. I think I'm going to get one of the SSR line, then get either AIO or P-w-C as a finishing polish/protection (followed by Natty's). If I finish with either of those, which SSR would be best to use beforehand?
 
If you're going by hand and you want to use Poorboy's SSR line, I would suggest SSR2 if the swirls are moderate. Keep in mind this is going to take quite some time to do the whole car by hand while trying to remove swirls. Don't get frustrated, as it will probably take more than one pass over all the panels with the SSR by hand.
 
By hand, I would probably opt for a terry cloth applicator or a terry cloth towel/rag to get some "bite" out of it. You could also try a microfiber applicator, but I personally don't think it will have quite the bite that a terry one will.
 
To do any sort of real defect removal, you need a PC - at the very least. Those cheaper orbital buffers don't cut it when it comes to tying to remove swirls.
