Hand Finishing

What works best for hand finishing/polishing areas that can't be accessed with a buffer?

Are you asking about techinque or product. If product, Meg's Ultimate Compound is great.

Other than rocks-in-a-bottle (rotary-only) compounds, I use the same stuff by hand that I use via machine. These days that's mostly M105/M205 for significant correction.

Thanks for the replies. Wasn't sure if a product made for machine use could be effective when used by hand.

The only real issue is whether the breakdown process will work out right (for products that do break down).

What type of applicator do you guys use when polishing by hand?

Depends on what I'm doing, same as with the polisher.

Generally there are three ways to go: cotton terry for aggressive work, foam for medium, and MF for gentle work. And I'll use torn-off pieces of machine pads for some jobs too.

But I often just do it all with a MF.
