hammering out dents

Hi all,

I've got an '02 F150 and the other day my ma somehow backed into the rear quarter portion of my bed on the driver side. I managed to touch up the chips and polish out the scratches, but I'm still left with a oval-ish, 4" wide x 1" high dent in the body that is visible from certain angles. I found out that I'm able to access the back side of the panel from under the bed, and I tried to hammer it out with a rubber mallet, but I don't seem to be making any progress. Is this something that I can do with patience or would it be a job for a pro? What can I expect to pay? Also, can anyone recommend something to take out grooves caused by wetsanding with 2000 grit? SSR2.5 got rid of the haze, but wasn't able to get the grooves out.

TIA :up

I would get DentWizard (national chain) to remove dent. In the Chicago area they usually charge about $75.00 for 1st dent in a panel. If you try to remove the dent yourself and fail, DentWizard may not be able to completely remove. I have also used DentKing from Walmart with okay results (kit is about $30.00). The DentKing works awesome on hail damage which sometimes just pops out with 1 try.
